Attachment of shoulder harness (Fig. 9)
Adjust the harness length so that the cutting tool is kept
parallel with the ground.
Connect the hanger and the harness.
WARNING:
• Be extremely careful to maintain control of the tool
at all times. Do not allow the tool to be deflected
toward you or anyone in the work vicinity. Failure to
keep control of the tool could result in serious injury to
the bystander and the operator.
Adjustment of the hanger position and shoulder
harness (Fig. 10)
To change the hanger position, loosen the bolt on the
hanger. Then move the hanger.
After adjusting the hanger position, tighten the bolt with.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING:
• Always be sure that the tool is switched off and
unplugged before attempting to perform inspection
or maintenance on the tool. Failure to switch off
and unplug may result in serious personal injury from
accidental start-up.
NOTICE:
• Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol or the
like. Discoloration, deformation or cracks may result.
Replacing the nylon cord (Fig. 11)
WARNING:
• Make sure that the nylon cutting head is secured to
the tool properly before operation. Failure to properly
secure the nylon cutting head may cause it to fly apart
resulting in serious personal injury.
1. Remove
the
lock
counterclockwise.
2. Remove the spool and the cup. And remove the old
nylon cord from the spool.
3. Cut a nylon cord in 3 – 6 m. Fold the cutting cord in
two halves, leave one of half longer 80 – 100 mm
than another. (Fig. 12)
4. Hook the middle of the new nylon cord to the notch
located at the center of the spool between the two
channels provided for the nylon cord. (Fig. 13)
5. Wind both ends firmly along the channels in the
direction indicated by arrow mark on the spool.
6. Install the nylon cutting head as described in this
instruction manual. (Fig. 14)

repairs, any other maintenance or adjustment should be
performed by Makita Authorized Service Centers, always
using Makita replacement parts.
