should be placed against the blade in
such a way that the fi rm part of the crust
faces the cutting edge.
∙ When cutting cheese, or when cutting
very thin slices of other foods, use a
slightly moist cloth to wipe the blade fi rst.
This will make the slicing process easier.
∙ When cutting ham, ensure that the fatty
side is facing upwards.
Cleaning and care
General
∙ Always remove the plug from the
wall socket before detaching any
accessories, and before cleaning the
appliance.
∙ After switching off, always wait until the
blade has come to a complete standstill.
Bring the stop plate back to its rest (zero)
position, so that the blade does not
protrude.
∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not
clean the appliance with water and do not
immerse it in water.
∙ Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning
solutions for cleaning. If necessary, the
housing may be wiped with a slightly
damp, lint-free cloth. The end-piece
holder and the sliding tray can be cleaned
using hot water and a mild detergent (do
not put them in a dish-washer).
Detaching the slicer assembly
The slicer assembly (consisting of the stop
plate and blade) can be detached to facilitate
cleaning. Bring the stop plate into its rest
position and take off the end-piece holder
and sliding tray. Release the slide lock and
fold the slicer assembly with blade and
stop plate down onto the base plate. Take
12
the power cord out of its wind-up storage.
Position the appliance vertically, push the
locking button (see diagram), and slide
the base plate fi rst slightly to the left, and
then to the rear. After cleaning, follow the
same steps in reverse to re-assemble the
appliance.
Detaching and cleaning the blade
∙ The blade is extremely sharp - there is
a risk of serious injury if proper care is
not taken.
∙ The stainless-steel blade can be cleaned
with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
∙ The area behind the blade should also
be cleaned occasionally. To remove the
blade, loosen the central fi xing screw by
turning it 90° in a clockwise direction and
take out the blade.
∙ After cleaning, re-attach the blade
following the same steps in reverse order.
Space-saving storage
After cleaning, the unit can be folded up for
space-saving storage. Bring the stop plate
into its rest position and take off the end-
piece holder and sliding tray. Release the
slide lock and fold the slicer assembly down
onto the base plate. Turn the unit upside
down and place the sliding tray and end-
piece holder into their respective storage
compartments. Ensure that the fi nger guard
of the sliding tray fi ts underneath the locking
catch. Wind the power cord around the
storage lugs.
