2 Safety Notes

This unit corresponds to the directive 89/336/EEC for
electromagnetic compatibility and to the low voltage
directive 73/23/EEC.
Attention!
The unit is supplied with hazardous mains voltage
(230 V~). Leave servicing to skilled personnel only.
Never make any modifications on the unit which are
not described in this instruction manual. Inexpert
handling may cause an electric shock hazard.
It is essential to observe the following items:
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against dripping water and splash water, high air
humidity, and heat (admissible ambient temperature
range 0 – 40 °C).
Do not insert anything into the air vents. This may
result in an electric shock!
Do not place any vessels filled with liquid, e. g. drink-
ing glasses, on the unit.
Do not set the unit into operation, and immediately
disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket if
1. there is visible damage to the unit or to the mains
cable,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or simi-
lar accident,
3. malfunctions occur.
The unit must in any case be repaired by skilled per-
sonnel.
Never pull the mains cable to disconnect the mains
plug from the mains socket, always seize the plug.
A damaged mains cable must only be replaced by
the manufacturer or by authorized, skilled personnel.
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, by no means
water or chemicals. For the optical parts a commer-
cial detergent for glass may be used.
No guarantee claims for the unit and no liability for
any resulting personal damage or material damage
will be accepted if the unit is used for other purposes

than originally intended, if it is not correctly mounted,
operated, or not repaired in an expert way.
Important for U. K. Customers!
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accord-
ance with the following code:
green/yellow = earth
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, pro-
ceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured green and yellow
must be connected to the terminal in the plug
which is marked with the letter E or by the earth
symbol
, or coloured green or green and yel-
low.
2. The wire which is coloured blue must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter N or coloured black.
3. The wire which is coloured brown must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter L or coloured red.
Warning – This appliance must be earthed.
If the unit is to be put out of operation de-
finitively, take it to a local recycling plant for
a disposal which is not harmful to the en-
vironment.
3 Applications
The light effect unit LE-270 is especially suited for
applications on stage, in discothèques, and for private
parties. It projects different, coloured light patterns,
thus providing an ideal dancefloor atmosphere. Via the
integrated microphone the prism can be turned in
steps by music control.
4 Inserting a Halogen Lamp
The unit is supplied without a lamp. A reflector halogen
lamp with the following specifications is required:
24 V/250 W, type MR 16 with base GX 5,3
e. g. HLG-24/250MR or HLT-24/250MR from the
product range of "IMG Stage Line".
Never use lamps of other specifications!
Caution!
Always disconnect the mains plug before inserting or
removing the halogen lamp! As halogen lamps heat
up very much during operation, let the lamp first cool
down after operation of the unit (minimum cooling
down time 15 minutes) before replacing it.
1) Unscrew the cover (4) for the lamp compartment.
The lamp support is in the compartment (fig. 2).
2) Place the lamp connection on the halogen lamp
and slide the lamp into the support (fig. 3). Pay
attention that the lamp is centred in the support.
