A. DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTIONS
The Toyota Parking Aid 800 system detects obstacles located in front of or at the rear of the
vehicle. The system has 4 ultrasonic sensors embedded in the front bumper and 4
ultrasonic sensors in the rear bumper. When active, the system prompts an in-cabin audio
warning that becomes progressively louder the closer you get to an obstacle. The front
obstacles are indicated by the front beeper, the rear obstacles by the rear beeper.
The vehicle is equipped with a system that facilitates parking manoeuvres by detecting
obstacles that could touch / damage the front or rear part of the vehicle.
The Toyota Parking Aid (TPA 800) will be activated after ignition, in the following ways:
Rear bumper zone protection: When reverse gear is engaged, an audible beep signals
that the Toyota Parking Aid is active.
Front bumper zone protection: When driving backward or driving forward below 10 km/h,
the system is activated. Correct Toyota Parking Aid functionality is signalled by lighting of
the green LED in the push-button located on the dashboard.
The detected obstacle will be indicated by an intermittent beep, increasing in frequency
until it becomes a continuous tone as the vehicle moves closer to the obstacle.

Continuous signalling zone: this is the zone nearest to the bumper. The Toyota Parking
Aid detects obstacles and emits a continuous beep, whether or not the vehicle is at a
standstill. The continuous beep in this zone persists for 2 seconds after the last detection of
an obstacle. This makes sure that even poorly reflecting obstacles are consistently signalled
even if they are detected intermittently.

Static zone: this is the intermediate zone. The Toyota Parking Aid detects obstacles and
emits an intermittent beep with frequency increasing if the distance to the obstacle is
decreasing, whether or not the vehicle is at a standstill.
