Note ! Covering or parts that are capable of being removed from
the unit without accessory equipment have to be reatta-
ched to the unit for safe operation in order to prevent, for
example, the ingress of fluids, foreign matter, etc..
The agitated vessels used for stirring have to be secured. Ensure
that the whole assembly is stable.
Additional hazards to the user may occur if inflammable materials
are used during the stirring operation or, if glass equipment is
used, the energy transmitted from the stirring device results in
glass breakage.
Furthermore, the stirring unit may only be used to stir those mate-
rials or material mixtures that the user knows will not react dan-
gerously to the extra energy produced by the stirring. This also
applies to extra energy by means of solar radiation during the stir-
ring procedure.
Make certain that the unit is set at the lowest speed before com-
missioning; otherwise, the unit will begin running at the speed last
set.
Stirring at high speeds can cause the medium to splash out of
the mixing vessel. There may be dangerous electrostatic activity
between the medium and the output shaft.
The appliance starts up again automatically following a cut in the
power supply or mechanical failure during a stirring procedure.
Stirring unit RW 14 basic may not been used in explosive atmos-
pheres, for mixing dangerous substances or under water.
Accessories may only be assembled once the plug has been dis-
connected.

Correct use

The RW 14 basic laboratory
stirrer can be used to stir
and mix liquids of low to
medium
viscosity
with
various stirring tools. It is
designed for use in laborato-
ries.
In order to use the applian-
ce properly, it must be
carefully secured to the
stand using the cantilever
(see fig. 2) and a cross slee-
ve. Assemble the appliance
on an even, stable base.
Ensure that the mounting equipment (e.g. fixed plate) is assemb-
led on a stable base and does not start to move during the stirring
procedure.
Use stirring shaft protective equipment (e.g. R 301 with R 301.1
see fig. 6).
The safety of the user cannot be guaranteed if the appliance is
operated with accessories that are not supplied or recommended
by the manufacturer or if the appliance is operated improperly con-
trary to the manufacturer's specifications.
Do not touch rotating parts during operation.
