7.2 Servicing

Regular inspection and servicing have a positive effect on the reliable functioning of
the SmartMaster and should be done at least once a year.
Except for an occasional adjustment of the joints of the exhaust arm and changing
filters if necessary the device is maintenance-free. For the adjustment of the joints,
take note of the installation and maintenance instructions supplied with the exhaust
arm.
Note the warnings listed in Section 2.5 "Safety Instructions for Maintenance and Fault
Clearance on the Smart Master".

7.3 Changing filters

The life of the filter cartridges depends on the type and amount of deposited
particles. In order to optimize the service life of the main filter and to protect it from
coarser particles, a prefilter and a much finer prefilter cassette have been fitted
upstream.
We recommend changing the economical prefilter, for example, on a regular daily or
weekly basis depending on workload, and not wait until it is completely clogged with
dust.
As the dust accumulation in the filter increases, its resistance to through-flow
increases and the suction decreases. Once it falls below a minimum level, the horn
sounds and the green power indicator light goes off. Now, a change of filter is
required. In most cases it will be enough to replace only the prefilter and the prefilter
cassette. Only after the prefilter cassette has been changed for the 2nd or 3rd time
does the main filter cartridge need to be changed so that the alarm does not sound
again after a very short time.
WARNING
Cleaning the filter cartridges is not permitted. This leads inevitably to
damage to the filter medium, which means the filter no longer functions and
dangerous substances find their way into the surrounding, breathable air.
During the work described in the following section, pay particular attention
to the seal on the main filter. Only an undamaged seal allows the device to
achieve a high separation rate. Main filters with a damaged seal must
therefore be replaced every time.
