3. OPERATION AND USE
The following characteristics apply to a telephone exchange with software version 60110 or higher. For the configuration by means of EasySetup, see 5.
3.1. Answering a call
In case of an incoming call, the telephone exchange generates a ring rhythm depending on the caller (for a description of the ring rythms, see p4).
If your apparatus has calling line and name identification presentation service (CLIP and CNIP), the number and name of the caller are displayed in case
of an internal call.
- If you have calling number identification presentation service, the number of the caller is displayed on your apparatus via your network supplier in case of
EN
an incoming call. If this service is not activated, 0001 or 0002 is displayed for the corresponding. external lines.
- If the calling name identification representation service is activated on an apparatus which has this option, the name is also displayed. If the apparatus
does not have this function or it is not activated, the name of the resp. line is displayed. If you have entered a name in your exchange's phone book,
this name is displayed instead of the name of the line or caller. Advanced apparatuses can have their own phone book, which can have priority over the
telephone exchange. Also for the exchange's own groups, the associated number and name are displayed on an apparatus that has calling number and
name identification presentation service.
3.1.1. Accepting a call
Pick up the receiver to answer an incoming call. Put down the receiver to wind up the call.
3.1.2. Taking over a call
If you hear an apparatus ring, you can take over the call by means of the following code:
general take-over from apparatus 1 to 8
✱222
• E.g. apparatuses 3 and 5 ring (33 and 35 as a standard), press ✱222 to accept the call from apparatus 3, press ✱222 once again to accept the call
from apparatus 5.
taking over a call from a specific apparatus (for which xx = internal number).
✱2xx
• E.g. apparatuses 3 and 5 ring (33 and 35 as a standard), press✱233 to accept the call from apparatus 3, press ✱235 to accept the call from apparatus 5.
Put down the receiver to wind up the call.
3.2. Making a call
3.2.1. Internal call
Pick up the receiver. You hear the telephone exchange's dialing tone. Dial the internal number of the apparatus you wish to call. The internal numbers are
31... 38 as a standard, but can be modified by means of EasySetup (see 5.5).
3.2.2. External call
Pick up the receiver. You hear the telephone exchange's dialing tone . Press 0 for an external line. You again hear the dialing tone of the external line. Then
dial the external number. You can also choose one of both external lines. In this case, you do not dial 0 but 1 for external line 1 or 2 for external line 2. You
hear the busy signal if the external line is engaged, not connected or if your apparatus has no access to the chosen external line (see 5.5).
3.2.3. Group call
You can also dial a number for an internal group. This way, you can call a number of people simultaneously, e.g. the sales department. The group numbers
are 91 up to 98 as a standard, but can be modified by means of EasySetup (see 5.6).
3.3. Placing a call on hold or putting a call through
You can put a call through so the conversation can be continued via another apparatus. You can also put a call on hold. The caller then hears the telephone
exchange's waiting music and cannot hear what you are saying. You can put a call through or place a call on hold by means of your apparatus' Flash or R key.
3.3.1. Putting a call on hold
You are having a conversation and wish to put this call on hold for a moment. Press the Flash or R key. The caller hears the exchange's waiting music. Press
the Flash or R key once again to continue the conversation. This function enables you to put external or internal calls on hold. An internal caller whose call
is put on hold also hears the waiting music.
3.3.2. Putting a call through
If you wish to put a call through to another apparatus, press the R or Flash key during the conversation. You hear a stutter tone followed by the internal dialing
tone. The conversation is put on hold and the caller hears the waiting music. Then dial the internal number. You can wait until the internal participant picks
up the receiver and you can introduce the caller. Then put down the receiver to put through the call to the internal participant. If the internal participant does
not answer the call, you can take it back by again pressing the Flash or R key. You can put down the receiver immediately after dialing the internal number.
The apparatus of the internal participant then rings. Instead of putting through the call to an internal apparatus, you can also put through a call to a group
of apparatuses. For this purpose, dial the group number.
You cannot put through an incoming external call to another external caller!
3.4. Two conversations
3.4.1. Starting a second conversation
During a conversation, you can start a second conversation by pressing the R or Flash key and dialing the internal number or 0 + external number. You can
start the second conversation. During this conversation, the first caller hears the waiting music.
3.4.2. Accepting a second conversation
If a second external or internal call comes in when you are already engaged in another conversation, you hear a tap tone in the receiver. You hear 3 brief
tones every 10s. You possibly also hear other apparatuses ring simultaneously.
To accept the second call, press the R or Flash key and dial code ✱222 (general take-over). You can start the second conversation. During this conversation,
the first caller hears the waiting music. You hear the tap tone both in case of a call from the intercom as in case of a second call via an external line. You
only hear the tap tone in case of group calls, not in case of a second call of an internal participant.
3.4.3. Switching between two conversations
You can switch between the different conversations by means of the R or Flash key.
3.4.4. Winding up one of two conversations
If you wish to wind up one of two conversations, simply put down the receiver during the conversation you wish to wind up. The apparatus will again ring
and you can continue the other conversation. You can never loose lines you have put on hold.
