3.2. Checking the oil level

Always check the engine oil level before starting
Warning
The oil level should be checked and topped up with the unit on a horizontal surface.
Remove the grey dipstick/plug (No.1, Fig. C) on the exhaust side by unscrewing it, and wipe the dipstick.
Insert the dipstick into the filler neck (No. 2, Fig. C) without screwing it in.
Note: A second cap, which is black and has no dipstick, is available if necessary on the other side of the engine.
Check the level and top up if necessary. If it is necessary:
Using a funnel, fill the engine oil sump right up to the top of the filler opening.
Screw the cap fully back onto the filler tube.
Check that there are no leaks.
Wipe off excess oil with a clean cloth.
3.3. Checking the fuel level
Stop the engine before filling up with fuel and fill up in a well-ventilated area.
Do not smoke, or bring naked flames or sparks near to the area where you are filling with fuel or where fuel is
stored.
Danger
Use only clean fuel without any water.
Do not overfill the tank (there should not be any fuel in the filler neck).
After the tank has been filled, ensure that the filler plug is properly tightened.
Take care not to spill any fuel when filling the tank.
If any fuel has been spilled, make sure that it has dried and that the vapours have dissipated before starting up the
pump unit.
Check the fuel level and top up if necessary:
Unscrew the fuel tank cap (No. 2, Fig. A).
Fill the tank (No.1, Fig. A) using a funnel, taking care not to spill any fuel.
Screw the fuel filler cap back onto the fuel tank.
3.4. Positioning the pump for operation
Place the pump unit on a flat, horizontal surface which is firm enough to prevent the unit sinking down (under no circumstances
should the unit tilt in any direction by more than 10°).
Choose a site that is clean, well-ventilated and sheltered from bad weather, and store the additional supplies of oil and fuel within
close proximity, although respecting a certain distance for safety.
Choose a location away from passing people and vehicles.
Ensure that the pump unit is stable and cannot move when in operation. Do not forget that the suction pipe tends to pull the pump unit
towards the water source during pumping.
Position the pump unit as close as possible to the liquid to be pumped up. The shorter the vertical distance between the pump unit and
the surface of the liquid, the quicker the priming and the greater the volume of liquid is pumped.
Submerge the strainer completely into the liquid, taking care that it is not blocked.
