9 Control knob
5. Start of Operation
Before plugging in check to see that the rated
mains voltage and mains frequency, as stated
on the rating label, match with your power supply.
Always install an RCD with a max. trip current
of 30 mA upstream.
5.1
Side handle installation
For safety reasons, always use the side
handle supplied.
Open the clamping ring by turning the side handle
(1) counter-clockwise. Place the side handle onto
the machine's collar. Insert the depth stop (3).
Tighten the side handle in the required angle
depending on the task at hand.
6. Use
6.1
Scaffold hook (only KHE D-26)
The scaffold hook (4) is designed for hanging the
machine on a scaffold or ladder step. The holding
point must be suitable for keeping the machine
secure. Ensure that no damage is caused by a
falling machine. Do not load the machine with
additional weight.
Do not use the scaffold hook if it is damaged.
Unfold the scaffold hook (4) to hang it (until it locks).
Hang the machine carefully.
Attention, risk of crushing when folding! Do not
reach into the hinge area, wear safety gloves.
Always fold in the scaffold hook (4) (until it locks)
when is is not being used.
6.2
Depth Stop Setting
Loosen the side handle (1). Set depth stop (3) to the
desired drilling depth and retighten the side handle.
6.3
Setting direction of rotation
Do not activate the rotation selector switch (5)
unless the motor has completely stopped.

R = Clockwise setting
L = Counter-clockwise setting
6.4
Operating mode selection
Select the desired operating mode by turning the
control knob (9). To turn, push the stop (8).
Drilling
Hammer drilling
Chiselling
(KHE 2444, KHE 2644, KHE D-26 only)
In chiselling mode, the chisel is locked so that it
cannot turn.

When a chisel is fitted, only operate the
machine in the chiselling operating mode

Avoid levering with the machine when a chisel
is fitted.
6.5
Tool change with SDS chuck
Before fitting, clean tool shank and apply
special grease (accessories order no.
6.31800)! Use only SDS-Plus tools.
Inserting tools:
- Turn tool and insert until it engages. The tool is
locked automatically.
Removing the tool:
See page 2, fig. A.
Pull tool lock (2) backwards in direction indicated by
arrow (a) and remove tool (b).
6.6
Switching on/off, changing speed
Switching on, speed: press the trigger (7).
The speed can be changed by pressing in the
trigger.
Release the trigger to switch off.
Continuous activation: While pressing on the
trigger (7), press in the locking button (6) and
then release the trigger. To switch off, press and
release the trigger (7) again.
In continuous operation, the machine
continues running if it is forced out of your
hands. Therefore, always hold the machine with
both hands using the handles provided, stand in a
safe position and concentrate.
7. Maintenance
The vent slots of the machine should be cleaned
from time to time.
8. Trouble Shooting
If the trigger (7) can not be depressed, check to see
that the direction of rotation selector switch (5) is
fully set to the R or L position.

9. Accessories
Use only genuine Metabo accessories.
Use only accessories which fulfil the requirements
and specifications listed in these operating instruc-
tions.
Fit accessories securely. Secure the machine if it is
operated in a bracket. Loss of control can cause
personal injury.
