1 - INTRODUCTION
The SGE 150 full face mask is certified according to European standard EN 136:1998. Only screw
filters are used, conforming to European standard EN 148 - 1.
2 - APPROVAL
The full face mask, model SGE 150 is Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that fall under category
III in terms of European Directive 89/686/EEC (and subsequent modifications E.D. 93/95/EEC, 93/68/
CEE and 96/58/EC). The masks carry a certification in conformity with the harmonised standard EN
136:1998 and satisfy the requirements laid down for class 3.
Marking
An example of the marking used is given below:
SGE 150 EN 136: 1998 CL3 CE 0426
where SGE 150 indicated the model, EN 136:1998 indicates the European reference standard and
CL 3 indicates the class the device belongs to, in terms of the reference standard.
The CE conformity mark indicates that the essential health and safety requirements indicated in
Attachment II of the European Directive 89/686/EEC and in the EN 136:1998 European Standard are
fulfilled. The number 0426 alongside the conformity mark denotes the Certified Body Italcert S.r.l.,
Viale Sarca, 336 – 20126 Milan – Italy, as responsible for the CE marking and for the final product
control in terms of article 11.A of the European Directive 89/686/EEC.
3- APPLICATIONS/LIMITATIONS
3.1 Applications
The mask can be used in conditions requiring protection for both eyes and respiratory system. It is
particularly recommended for industrial and agricultural sectors where the air is contaminated by
toxic and/or hazardous substances.
The SGE 150 full-face mask may be used with EN 148-1 gas and particle filters made by BLS S.r.l.
The respirator assembly will typically comprise the following components: 1 x SGE 150 and 1 x EN
148-1 filter (particle or gas and vapours filters or particle/gas combined filters). For a correct filter use

The SGE 150 full-face mask may be connected to SGE 2500 and SGE 2600 powered filtering
devices as it is designed for this purpose. For a correct use of the SGE 150 full face mask with these

3.2 Limitations
Note that there can be national differences in the regulations for use of respiratory protective
equipment.
- This respirator does not supply oxygen. Do not use in oxygen deficient atmospheres (Individual
countries may apply their own limits on oxygen deficiency; please seek advice if in doubt)
- Do not use for respiratory protection against atmospheric contaminants which have poor warning
properties or are unknown or immediately dangerous to life and health or against chemicals which
generate high heats of reaction with chemical filters.
- Leave work area immediately, check integrity of respirators and replace parts if: a) parts become
damaged b) breathing becomes difficult c) dizziness or other distress occurs d) you taste or smell
the contaminants or an irritation occurs.
- Use strictly in accordance with the face piece and filter instructions, labels and limitations pertaining
to this respirator assembly.
- Never modify or alter this device.
- Only for use by trained and qualified personal.
- Store this device in a sealed container away from contaminated areas when not in use.
4 - DESCRIPTION
The SGE 150 full-face mask is fitted by means of a headpiece with six straps. These can be adjusted
to ensure a perfect fit over the face. The internal nose and mouth piece allow the air inhaled to pass
through the visor without causing condensation or misting. It also reduces unused space inside the
mask to prevent the build-up of carbon dioxide from the air exhaled.
