6.4.1 Cleaning
1 - After removing mask, clean under running water to remove most of the contaminants. Then
clean more fully by placing in boiling water. If disinfection is required, use a solution of diluted
chlorhexidine digluconate (5% for every two litres of water).
2 - Dry the mask with a soft, clean cloth or with a cool air blower.
3 - When dry, clean the visor with clean cotton wool.

7 MAINTENANCE
7.1 Monthly check
Examine the mask and check that:
1 - none of the plastic parts are broken
2 - there are no general signs of wear or damage
3 - the seals and/or headpiece are not split
4 - the filters and/or O-rings are not excessively worn
If the mask has any of these defects, it must not be used before the faulty parts are replaced.
BLS S.r.l. recommends using the mask for no more than 10 years before replacement.
7.2 Replacing nose and mouth membrane
To replace the nose and mouth membrane and perform a complete overhaul, first remove the
nose cup assembly (see exploded diagram figure 12) from the mask using the spanner provided in
maintenance kit K11 (code 8001022). If a complete overhaul is not necessary, remove the two MI/25
membrane holders (fig. 14) with related NG/27 membranes (fig. 15) gently without dismantling the
entire nose and mouth assembly and insert the new ones in their respective holes, thanks to the
groove on the MI/25's edges.
7.3 Replacing inhale and exhale membranes
This maintenance operation requires you to dismantle the entire breathing assembly. This can only
be performed using the special spanner K11 provided and described in the paragraph below.
Step 1: insert the metal pin of the circular spanner in the hole on the outside of bushing MI/3 (fig. 1)
and unscrew by turning clockwise. This allows you to replace o-ring MI/8 (fig. 2) if it is damaged.
Step 2: remove the bushing and pull the breathing assembly out of the mask. This facilitates
replacement of the nose and mouth membranes and separation of the assembly into two parts
by extracting the central part of filter connector MI/2 (fig. 7) from breathing assembly MI/1 (fig. 11).
During this operation, remove the two O-rings (MI/7 fig. 9) and replace them if they show signs of
wear or breakage.
Step 3: replace exhale filter NG/11 (fig. 8) in assembly MI/1 (fig. 10).
Step 4: use a small pair of long-nosed pliers to remove filter holder MI/4 (fig. 4) from assembly MI/2.
This operation also involves removing filter seal NG/13 (fig. 6) and replacing it if necessary. Replace
inhaler membrane MI/5 (fig. 5).
Step 5: reassemble the parts in the reverse order, taking care when fitting the O-rings. Use a thin
layer of silicone grease to lubricate the O-rings.
7.4 Replacing the glass visor
To replace the visor, first detach the mask from the headpiece by unscrewing bolt NG/25 (fig. 20)
