STOPPING
THE ENGINE
After you havefinishedsnow-throwing, run enginefor a few minutes
beforestoppingto help dryoff any moistureon the engine.
1.
Movethrottlecontrolto STOPi_
position.
Do NOTmovethe chokecontrolto CHOKE IJl
positionto stop
the engine.Backfireor enginedamagemayoccur.
2.
Removethe key.Removingthe keywill reducethe possibilityof
unauthorized startingof the enginewhileequipmentis notin use.
Keepthe key in a safe place.Theengine cannotstartwithoutthe
key.
3.
Wipe all snow and moisturefromthe area aroundtheengine as
well as the area in and aroundthe wheeldrivecontroland auger
control.Also,engageand releasebothcontrolsseveraltimes.
TO ENGAGE
DRIVE
1.
With the throttlecontrolin the Fast(rabbit)_
position,move
speedselector leverintoone of the six forward(F) positionsor
two reverse(R) positions.Selecta speedappropriatefor the
snowconditionsand a paceyou'recomfortablewith.
NOTE: Whenselectinga DriveSpeed,usethe slowerspeeds
untilyouare comfortableand familiarwith the operationof the
snowthrower.
2.
Squeezethe drivecontrolagainstthe handleand the snow
throwerwill move.Releaseit and drivemotionwill stop.
NOTE:NEVERrepositionthe speedselectorlever(changespeedsor
directionof travel)withoutfirst releasingthe drivecontroland bringing
the snowthrowerto a completestop.Doingso will resultin premature
wear tothe snowthrower'sdrive system.
TO ENGAGE
AUGER
1.
To engagethe auger and startthrowingsnow,squeezethe auger
control againsttheleft handle.Releaseto stopthe auger.
REPLACING
SHEAR
PiNS
The augersare securedto the spiralshaftwith shearpins and bow-tie
cotter pins. If the augershouldstrikea foreignobjector icejam, the
snowthroweris designedso thatthe pinsmay shear.If the augerswill
notturn, checkto see if the pinshavesheared. See Figure17.
NOTE:Twoextra shearpinsare suppliedin the manualbag.
NEVERreplacethe augershearpinswith anythingotherthan Sears
SKU#88389/0EM PartNo. 738-04155replacement s hearpins. Any
damageto the augergearboxor othercomponentsas a resultof
failingto do sowill NOTbe coveredbyyour snowthrower'swarranty.
Alwaysturn off the snow thrower'sengineand removethe keyprior to
replacingshearpins.
