Instructions for Use
Description
OptraGate is an auxiliary aid for clinical use which allows
the operating field to be accessed with ease. It provides
retraction of lips and cheeks during dental treatment and
offers the clinician increased visibility and accessibility. The
device, which features high flexibility and elasticity in all
directions of movement, ensures patient comfort and
assists in keeping the patient's mouth open.
OptraGate is available in sizes Regular, Small as well as
Junior for children between 5 and 10 years of age. The
modified "ExtraSoft Version", which is available in Regular
and Small sizes, offers a snug, particularly gentle fit in the
area of the upper and lower lip frenulum which minimizes
intraoral pressure.
Composition
Thermoplastisc elastomer (SEBS) and polypropylene.
OptraGate is latex-free.
Indication
Suitable for use in diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic
dental procedures (in particular restorative procedures,
cavity preparation, prophylaxis, diagnostic procedures,
scaling & root planing, tooth whitening, impression
making).
Contraindications
The use of OptraGate is contraindicated
– in surgical and implantological procedures
– if the patient is known to be allergic to any of the
components of OptraGate
Description of the procedure
When OptraGate is used, the small inner ring of the
device is positioned in the area of the gingivobuccal
fold, while the outer ring remains outside the mouth.
The elastic component between the two rings thus
embraces the lips of the patient and provides retraction
due to the restoring force of the rings (see Figure 1).
