Preparing the welding circuit TIG
¾ Connect the ground lead** to the welding machine and to the piece to be welded, as
close as possible to the point to be welded.
(Mod. 1, 2)
The torch must be fitted with a gas flow adjustment valve.
¾ Connect the TIG torch** power connector to the negative attachment on the welding
machine and mount the electrode.
¾ Connect the TIG torch gas pipe to the output of the pressure reducer mounted on an
ARGON protection gas cylinder.
(Mod.3)
¾ Connect the TIG torch** power connector to the negative attachment on the welding
machine and mount the electrode.
¾ Connect the TIG torch control connector intoi the connector "Z" on the front panel.
¾ Connect the TIG torch gas hose into the gas fitting "Y" on the front panel.
„ Place the protective gas cylinder in an upright position, far away from the welding area.
Use the welding machine support or some other fixed part so that there is no risk of it
falling or being damaged.
For installation, follow the instructions in Fig. 7.
L
The recommended sections (mm2) of the welding cable, based on the maximum
delivered rated current (I2 max), are shown in Fig. 3,3.

Description of the welding machine
The welding machine is a current transformer for manual arc welding using MMA coated
electrodes and TIG with a torch that strikes the arc on contact.
The welding machine is built using electronic INVERTER technology.
The delivered current is direct.
The electrical characteristic of the transformer is of the falling type.
This manual refers to a range of welding machines that differ in some of their characteristics.

Welding process: description of controls and signals
Once you have put the welding machine into operation, switch it on and carry out the
required adjustments.
Mod.1
MMA / TIG Selector "D"
Press push-button to select the welding method you would like to use:
MMA: Coated electrode welding.
.
TIG: TIG welding with LIFT ARC start.
Adjusting the welding current "E"
Select the welding current depending on the electrode, the joint and the welding position.
Indicatively, the currents to be used with the different electrode diameters are listed in Fig. 4.
L
To strike the welding arc with the coated electrode, brush it onto the piece to be
welded and as soon as the arc is struck, hold it constantly at a distance equal to the
electrode diameter and at an angle of approximately 20 - 30 degrees in the direction
in which you are welding.
L
To strike the welding arc with the TIG torch, make sure that the protection gas valve
is open. With a rapid, sure movement, touch and then withdraw the electrode point
from the piece to be welded.
"Arc Force" Adjustment
L
It can be adjusted only when the welder is in MMA mode.
¾ Press and hold push-button "D" for two seconds to access the adjustment menu.
¾ Select the "Arc Force" mode - LED "D1" ON – and the message "AF" in the screen.
¾ Turn potentiometer "E" to select the Arc Force value needed.
¾ Press and hold push-button "D" for two seconds to exit the adjustment menu.
Message "A" (welding current adjustment) is displayed on the screen.
"Hot Start" Adjustment
L
It can be adjusted only when the welder is in MMA mode.
¾ Press and hold push-button "D" for 2 seconds to access the adjustment menu.
¾ Select the "HOT START" mode - LED "D2" ON – and message "HS" in the screen.
¾ Turn potentiometer "E" to select the Hot Start value needed.
¾ Press and hold push-button "D" for 2 seconds to exit the adjustment menu.
"Anti-sticking"
The welding machine is fitted with an automatic device that interrupts the current a few
seconds after having detected that the electrode has stuck to the piece to be welded. In
this way the electrode will not overheat. Message "AS" is displayed on the screen.
Supply voltage and failure indicator "G"
„ When the indicator is on, it means that the welder is powered.
„ If the indicator flashes, it means that the supply voltage is too low or too high. These
messages are displayed:
Hi = Too high supply voltage.
Lo= Too low supply voltage.
L
Press and hold button "D" for 10 seconds to check voltage of the mains. The voltage
of the mains expressed in Volts is displayed.
Thermal cutout signal "F"
The warning light "F" switched on means that the thermal protection is running. Message
"t" is displayed on the screen.
If the duty cycle "X" shown on the data plate is exceeded, a thermal cutout stops the
machine before any damage is caused. Wait for operation to be resumed and, if possible,
wait a few minutes more.
If the thermal cutout continues to cut in, the welding machine is being pushed beyond its
normal performance levels.
Mod.2
Stand By / ON button "C"
Press this button to switch on the machine or to set it to "Stand By".
When the machine is connected to the mains in "Stand By" mode, a red light flashes on
the display "G".
MMA / TIG Selector "D"
Press push-button "D" to select the welding method you would like to use:
MMA: Coated electrode welding.
.
TIG: TIG welding with LIFT ARC start.
Adjusting the welding current "E"
Select the welding current depending on the electrode, the joint and the welding position.
