Inhalation

5.1 Important notes

- Before the patient starts inhaling, ensure that all parts are firmly connected
to each other.
- Ensure that the air outlets are connected firmly to the air connection of the
PARI compressor or to the compressed air supply and to the nebuliser.
Medication nebulisation can be adversely affected by an incorrectly ass-
embled nebuliser.
Babies, infants, children, and anyone who requires assistance must
be supervised constantly by an adult during inhalation therapy.
Otherwise, safe and effective treatment cannot be guaranteed.
Caution: Contains small parts which can be swallowed!

5.2 Performing the inhalation

• Sit in an upright position and relax.
• Take the nebuliser out of its holder.
• Hold the nebuliser upright.
Figure D:
• Position the nasal joining piece (4) against one nostril so the nostril is
closed tightly.
• Close the other nostril using the nose plug (5) supplied.
The nose plug has a small opening, thus ensuring a defined resistance.
• Open your mouth and close your soft palate (for advice on how to close
your soft palate, please see page 26).
• Switch the compressor on.
Note: The aerosol is automatically conveyed into the nasal sinuses. During
therapy do not breathe in or out either through the nose or the mouth. To
breathe, take short pauses and breathe through the nose or mouth.
• After breathing in and out close the soft palate again and continue with the
therapy as described above.
Therapy is complete after approx. 5 minutes (if possible, treat left and right
nostril approx. 2.5 minutes each).
