6.4 Hospital and medical practice

- When using the nebuliser for several patients, the nebuliser must be
cleaned, disinfected and sterilised before each change in patient.
- Please ensure that only adequately validated device-specific and product-
specific procedures are used for cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation,
and that the validated parameters are observed in each cycle.
- The cleaning and disinfection procedure must be recognised as effective
(e.g., in the list of tested and recognised disinfectants and procedures
issued by the Robert Koch Institute/DGHM) and already validated in all
cases.
- If another procedure is used, its effectiveness must be confirmed during
validation. CE-approved chemical disinfectants may also be used, pro-
vided they satisfy the requirements for material resistance (see
Chapter 7.1 "Material resistance").
- Please follow the instructions in Chapter 7.1 "Material resistance".
- In addition, please follow the hygiene regulations of the hospital or medical
practice.
6.4.1 Cleaning/disinfection
Clean and disinfect immediately after use. Ideally, a mechanical procedure
(instrument dishwasher) should be used.
• Prepare the cleaning disinfection process as described in Chapter 6.2
"Preparation".
Any suitable cleaner/disinfectant can be used.
Recommended procedure: Thermal disinfection
• Place the nebuliser components in the instrument dishwasher.
• Select the 93°C programme (treatment time 10 minutes).
The effectiveness of this procedure has been confirmed using a G7836 CD
disinfector manufactured by Miele with neodisher
manufactured by Chemische Fabrik Dr. Weigert, Hamburg.
Recommended procedure: Manual cleaning/disinfection
The effectiveness of this procedure has been confirmed using the Korsolex
Endo-Cleaner cleaning agent in combination with the Korsolex
fectant manufactured by BODE CHEMIE HAMBURG.
