Fasten the cable shoe of the brown cable to a suitable position on the right side of the boot using
the enclosed self-fastening screw. (make earth connection)
Note
:
In order to carry out some of the tests described below, the earth lead must briefly be
reconnected to the battery. After completing the tests, the earth lead must once again be
detached from the battery, without delay!!
2.1 Vehicles without data-bus-control unit in tailgate:
In this case, when the rear fog lamps are switched on, there is a + 12V current in the car-side lead
with the rear fog lamps function (located on the right-hand-side of the luggage compartment in the
15-way connector, cable loom leading to the tailgate).
In an easily-accessible place in the vicinity of the 15-way connector, cut the car-side lead which leads
from the rear fog lamp switch to the rear fog lamps and remove about 5 mm of the insulation from
both of the cut ends.
Crimp the spade connector supplied onto the end of the lead from the rear fog lamp switch and
plug into the spade socket housing supplied.
Crimp the flat plug supplied onto the end of the remaining lead, leading to the car-side rear fog
lamps and plug into the flat plug housing supplied.
Plug together the plug housings thus mounted with the matching parts attached to the grey and
grey/white leads of the 8-core wiring set, and snap them into place (in this case, the normally-open
relay supplied and the 4-core wiring set with relay socket are not required).
2.2
Vehicles with data-bus-control unit in tailgate:
In this case, the rear fog lamps are controlled through a data-bus lead.
(The function rear fog lamps + 12V is not present in the cable loom leading to the tailgate.)
Remove the tailgate interior trim and loosen the plastic foam covering.
Secure the relay socket of the 4-core wiring set supplied to a suitable position centrally in the tailgate
with the M5 nut and bolt supplied and plug the relay, also supplied, into the relay socket.
Lay the wiring set with the grey/white and red/yellow leads alongside the car-side wiring loom to
end at the left-hand rear fog lamp.
In an easily-accessible place in the vicinity of the left-hand rear fog lamp, cut the car-side lead
(coloured brown), marked with the plus sign (+ 12V) and remove about 5 mm of the insulation from
both of the cut ends.
Crimp the spade connector supplied to the end of the lead from the data bus control unit (located in
the vicinity of the rear windscreen wiper motor) and plug into the spade socket housing supplied.
Crimp the flat plug supplied onto the end of the remaining lead, leading to the left rear fog lamp
and plug into the flat plug housing supplied
Plug together the plug housings thus mounted with the matching parts attached to the grey/white
and red/yellow leads of the 4-core wiring set, and snap them into place.
Lay the wiring set with the grey/white, red/yellow and black/yellow leads alongside the car-side
wiring loom to end at the right-hand rear fog lamp.
