Adjusting the height of cut
Your lawnmower is equipped with a variable wheel
adjuster ranging from 30 – 80 mm. The wheel adjuster
acts on all wheels via a central adjusting mechanism
(item 16). Rotating the adjuster anti-clockwise reduces
the cutting height, turning clockwise increases the
cutting height. This is indicated by the scale (item 11).
Note: Select the height of cut so that the blade will not
touch undulations in the terrain. Only mow with the
cutting height adjusted to its lowest setting on very flat
and even lawns.
Engine
Before starting the engine for the first time,
thoroughly read the engine operating
instructions supplied and the following in-
structions. Only by observing these operating
instructions can the long service life of the engine and
your warranty be assured.
Starting
For starting, position yourself to the side or
behind the mower. Always maintain the
safety distance provided by the handle
length (Fig. 2).
The engine is controlled via the throttle control (item 3).
Caution: The cutting blade rotates as soon as
the engine starts. Never position hands or
feet under the cutting deck.
Note: To disengage the engine brake during starting,
press the brake bar against the handle (Fig. 7).
When starting from cold, set the throttle
control (item 3) to the choke symbol.
When starting a warm engine position
the throttle control to max. (Fig. 9).
Pull the starter cord until resistance is felt - then pull
through in one firm movement. As soon as the engine
is running, position the throttle control (possibly from
the choke position) to max.
Note: If the brake bar (item 1) is not pressed against the
handle (item 2) during starting, the electronic ignition
will be short circuited, and the engine brake will con-
tinue to be engaged. In this situation, the engine
cannot be started manually.
Switching the engine off
Move the throttle control (item 3) to min.,
release the brake bar (item 1) and wait, until
the engine has come to a complete stop
(Fig. 9).
Note: Releasing the brake bar short-circuits the
electronic engine ignition, and the engine and
consequently the cutting blade are brought to a
complete stop in a few seconds.
Mowing
When mowing, observe all safety
instructions at the beginning of these
operating instructions.
Mowing with a grass catcher
The grass catcher (item 6) handles short and dry grass
very well.
This is facilitated by a fan-assisted cuttings discharge
(turbo effect) (Fig. 14 B).
Please note:
- The shorter the grass cuttings, the better the
handling by the grass catcher;
- Grass which is too long or too wet may clog up the
grass catcher/discharge.
Quality of cut
Grass length, density and moisture content determine
the quality of cut. Dry and reasonably short grass pro-
vides ideal conditions for a clean cut. Wet grass may
also be mown and collected, but quality of cut and
collection efficiency suffer. A sharp blade is a must for a
clean, perfect cut. A blunt blade (grass blades fray
when cut, the lawn turns yellow) must be sharpened
(see chapter "Cutting blade"). Mow at a steady pace, in
as straight a line as possible; cut strips should overlap by
a few centimetres, which results in a clean pattern. In
case of long grass, first cut with a higher setting in one
direction and then across the first pattern with the
standard cutting height (Fig. 10).
Lawn care
Note: If, on account of the growth pattern, the full
engine power is not required, you can select the Eco
position between max. and min. on the throttle control
(Fig. 9) to protect the environment and prevent
unnecessary emissions.
If possible, mow only when the lawn or ground is dry.
When the ground is damp, the wheels press into the
turf and leave tracks behind. The more frequently a
lawn is mowed (ideally every week), the better and
