Congratulations on choosing your new SOLO
lawnmower, and we hope that you will be satisfied
with this advanced equipment.
Your 582/585 lawnmower represents a very competent
machine offering the best pre-requisites for a first class
lawn. The SOLO lawnmower 582/585 is designed only
for private use around the domestic and hobby garden.
This machine is unsuitable for use in public areas, parks,
sports facilities in horticulture or forestry. These
operating instructions are accompanied by type-specific
engine operating instructions which are an essential
part of these operating instructions.
Before commencing any work with this
equipment, carefully read these operating
instructions and make yourself familiar
with all controls and the correct use of this SOLO
lawnmower. Observe all notes, explanations and
regulations. Adherence to these operating instructions
is a pre-requisite for the appropriate use of this equip-
ment. Never use this lawnmower 582/585, whilst by-
standers (particularly children) or animals are in close
proximity of the equipment. Users are liable towards
third parties for any loss, property damage or injury.

General safety information

Because of risk of injury, never use this
SOLO lawnmower
- for trimming bushes, hedges or shrubs,
- for cutting or shredding climbing vegetation or
lawns on roof gardens or balcony boxes,
- for cleaning or vacuuming footpaths or
- as shredder for shredding tree or hedge cuttings.
- Also, never use this SOLO lawnmower for levelling
undulations in the ground, such as molehills.
For safety reasons, never use this SOLO lawnmower as:
- drive unit for other equipment,
- as trailer,
- as tractor unit (in case of self-drive mowers), e.g. to
transport cuttings except in a suitable grass catcher,
otherwise the warranty will be void.
General safety instructions for non-driven
SOLO lawnmowers with combustion
engine
- Never allow children or other adults who are not
familiar with the machine operation, to operate this
lawnmower. Persons younger than 16 years of age
must not operate this equipment.
- Always observe all locally applicable regulations;
these may determine the minimum age for users of
this equipment.
- Only transfer or lend lawnmowers to individuals,
who are familiar with this model and its operation;
always pass on the operating instructions too.

- Explain to all, who are to operate this equipment,
potential dangers and how to prevent accidents.
- Only mow during daylight or with adequate artificial
lighting.
- People fitted with heart pacemakers must not work
on electrical components, which are part of the
ignition system, with the engine running.
- Machines equipped with four-stroke engines are not
suitable for slopes steeper than 15˚.
- Store your mower in a safe place. Store mowers
which are not in use in a dry, locked area which is
inaccessible to children.
Before mowing
- Thoroughly check the entire terrain where you
intend using the equipment before and during
mowing; before mowing, remove any debris, such as
stones, pieces of wood, bones etc. from the lawn
area you intend cutting.
- Always wear solid shoes and long trousers when
mowing. Never mow in bare feet or open sandals.
- Fit the deflector or grass catcher supplied. Check its
secure attachment. Never use the lawnmower
without safety equipment or if such equipment is
damaged.
- Check the blade for
(a) secure attachment of all fasteners,
(b) damage or severe wear.
- Observe installation instructions and torques during
replacement.
- Frequently check the grass catcher for wear.
- Before their first use, fill lawnmowers equipped with
four-stroke engines with engine oil (observe the
information in the separate engine operating
instructions).
- Check the oil level before each mowing operation.
Fuel
Handling fuel
Handling fuel requires particular care and
caution.
- Fuel is highly flammable. Only fill the fuel tank in
the open, never in enclosed spaces.
- Never smoke and keep open flames away.
- Never spill fuel.
- Clean the lawnmower thoroughly if fuel has been
spilled. Only start the engine after any spilled fuel
has been removed.
- Keep clothing away from fuel. Immediately change
clothing which has come into contact with fuel.
- Ensure that no fuel penetrates the ground
(environmental protection).
