- Only store and transport fuel in approved and
designated containers.
- Immediately replace the fuel tank, filler cap and fuel
pipe in case of damage.
- Visually inspect this area before any use.
Fuelling
Important: Environmentally responsible unleaded fuel
can be used without problems.
- Use only fuel of the type specified in the separate
engine operating instructions.
- Let the machine cool down before fuelling.
- Thoroughly clean the area around the fuel filler
neck, unscrew the fuel cap and fill the tank up to the
lower edge of the filler neck. Firmly close the filler
cap again.
Note: Fuel may contain substances similar to solvents.
- Avoid contact between mineral oil-based
products and skin/eyes.
- Wear gloves during fuelling.
- Never breath in fuel vapours.
- Store fuel in a safe place, which is
inaccessible to children.
Operation
- Never run the combustion engine in enclosed spaces,
where dangerous gases can accumulate. Risk of
poisoning.
- The engine/exhaust are very hot: Do not touch.
- For your safety this lawnmower has been equipped,
in line with current legislation, with an engine
brake. As soon as you release the brake bar (Fig 7),
the engine stops and the blade will be brought to a
complete stop in only a few seconds.
- Always ensure you have a good foothold on slopes.
- Guide the machine at walking pace.
- Mow across slopes, never up or down.
- Take particular care when changing the mowing
direction on slopes.
- Take particular care when turning the mower or
pulling it closer to you.
- There is a risk of tripping over when moving
backwards with the mower. Avoid walking
backwards.
- Avoid awkward body positions. Ensure safe footing
and always keep your balance.
- Always maintain the safety distance dictated by the
mower handle.
Starting
- For starting, position the lawnmower on an even
surface.
- Never start in high grass.
- When starting ensure, that feet are at a safe
distance from the cutting blade.
- Keep hands and feet away from rotating parts.
Ensure that hands and feet are kept away from
under the cutting deck.
Stop the engine and remove the spark plug cap:
- Before checking, cleaning or working
on your lawnmower
- Before removing blockages or clearing
the discharge chute
- When you are removing/fitting the
mulch insert (available as accessory).
Stop the engine:
- When you open the discharge deflector
and remove the grass catcher,
- When you remove the upper
handle from its lower counterpart,
- When transporting the mower
outsidethe lawn area,
- When you leave the machine unattended for short
periods of time,
- If you want to adjust the cutting height,
- Before refuelling,
- If you lift or tilt the mower for transport,
- If you cross any area without grass cover,
- When transporting the machine to/from the mowing
area.
- Never lift or carry the machine with its engine
running.
- Never use this machine with damaged or missing
safety equipment. Only mow with fitted grass
catcher - check its correct installation and condition;
alternatively mow with closed discharge deflector.
- Never adjust the basic engine settings.
- If the mower blade cannot rotate, for example
because it has struck an obstacle, ask you local
service engineer to check, whether parts of the
mower are damaged or deformed.
- If the mower begins to vibrate unusually, stop the
engine and carry out an inspection immediately.

Maintenance and Storage

- Ensure that all fasteners are correctly tightened.
- Never store the machine with fuel in its tank inside a
building, where fuel vapour could come into contact
with open flames or sparks or could otherwise be
ignited.
- If you need to drain the fuel tank, do this only in the
open. Catch any fuel in a suitable container.
- Let the engine run, until any fuel residues inside the
carburettor have been used up.
- Let the engine cool down before storing the
machine in enclosed spaces.
