12 Safety devices

The autoclave has the following safety devices:

12.1 Safety pressurestat: Adjusted to 2.35bar

It cuts the electrical power of vapour generator (or electrical resistence) to
stop the vapour production when an unusual overpressure is produced in the
sterilised vessel.

12.2 Safety valve: Adjusted to 2.5 bar

In case the vessel pressure increases over 2.5bar, this valve is automatically
open, releasing the vapour from the inside of the vessel and, consequently,
depressurizing the vessel.
In case the safety valve is triggered, stop the autoclave and call the
technical service department.

12.3 Safety thermostat: No adjust possibility.

In case of unusual increase of temperature or a considerable decrease of the
water level (which produces an overtemperature of the vapour generator),
the safety thermostat activates (14) ans stops the heater.
This thermostat cannot be reclosed. Stop the autoclave and call the
technical service department.
12.4 Door blockage with temperature > 98ºC
In case of door blockage due to the safety system break, please follow the
protocol below:
1 Stop the machine.
2 Unplug the machine from the power supply.
3 Put the tube on the air valve (11).
4 Open carefully the valve to release the vapour pressure. Take care to
prevent burns.
5 Wait till all the vapour is released.
6 Proceed the following way, using the hook provided with the machine
(see photos):
Look through the lid grid with the aid of a torch and find the closing
mechanism. You could see the opening lever.
Once located, insert carefully the hook through the grid and pull the lever
outwards. Hold the lever this position while simultaneously opening the lid
with the door handle.
