EC25 ELECTRONIC CARD
THE electronic card, Art. EC25, is suited to control an actuator for sliding gates, ES series, with a 12 Volt direct current motor.
This card has high quality standards and is equipped with a gate movement control system with an ENCODER to ensure conformity with the require-
ments of the directives on electromagnetic compatibility, CE marking and current safety standards. The gate gets to be opened/closed by slowing down,
its speed and the amperometric consumption of the motor are constantly monitored, so that various operating troubles are promptly signalled and if there
is an obstruction the motion is reversed.

1. DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS AND GENERAL OPERATION DATA
The power supply of the card on low voltage, 12 Volts alternating current, takes place via a safety power transformer suitable to withstand the power
requirement of the motor and accessories. After making the connections a beep warns the card has been powered. In the event of mains power failure,
the card can be powered with a back-up battery (optional), 12V 7Ah. All the sliding actuators in the ES series are predisposed to house the back-up bat-
tery, art. ZBA1. The circuit board adjustment is made through 6 dip-switches and 3 trimmer present on the circuit board. The other operation parameters
present on the circuit board (see tables for description). The operating parameters are set in the laboratory, the default values at the time of testing the
card. The default values can be customized with a portable handheld, type 950B, or by using a PC.
1.1.
NORMAL OPERATION
After determining the setting of the dip–switches, with the automatic gate system stationary and closed a control starts it opening until it travels the pro-
grammed distance indicated by the number of pulses provided by the encoder. The same operation is performed when closing but after the end of the
impulses the motor keeps on pushing at the minimum speed until finding the limit stop to be sure that the automatic gate system is completely closed.
1.2.
PHOTOCELLS
During opening the photocells tripping causes no change in motion (unless connected otherwise, STOP terminal and STPA terminal), whereas on clo-
sing it causes reversal until fully open, to then complete closing after the pause time, if applicable.
1.3. PEDESTRIAN OPENING
Set, default value, to 30% of total opening.
1.4. ELECTRONIC CLUTCH
The CLUTCH potentiometer determines the sensitivity of the electronic clutch, that is the strength of the force that the automatic gate system meets in
opposition to its motion and causes the travel to stop. Until this threshold is exceeded the engine will keep on pushing to try and get past the obstruction. In
case of lock, the door inverts the motion for nearly 10 cm.
1.5. PRESENCE OF AN INSURMOUNTABLE OBSTACLE
If during opening or closing the automatic gate system meets an insurmountable obstacle (number of encoder impulses always the same) before the
limit stop, the automatic gate system stops, reverses the direction of travel for 1/10 of the distance travelled until that moment and then restarts the ori-
ginal motion. If it meets the same obstruction again then it retracts as before and then permanently stops, waiting for a new command from the user. The
new command reverses the motion (if it was opening it closes and vice versa) unless there has been a power drop. In this case the command causes
always complete opening until it reaches the limit stop and it then behaves as selected with the dip switches.
1.6 SIGNALLING LED (MAIN CONTROLS)
After the card STARTS, and after 15 seconds, the green Led (MEMO) and orange (RESET) show messages for the correct circuit board operation. The
orange led must flash with sequences of nearly ½ second ON and ½ second OFF.
The green led must always be OFF, but with very short flashings. In case of wrong operation the orange led changes the flashing sequence and the
green led may remain always lit.
Note: In case of high absorptions of current, close to the current protection value, the green (MEMO) and the orange (RESET) LED light up simulta-
neously. For a correct operation of the control circuit board it is advised to verify the gate mechanic.
If the automation stops because of the friction or an obstacle, the card tries and closes the automation after 7 minute.
2. SYSTEM WIRING FAULT DIAGNOSIS
Enabling the reading of the "rolling code" code. The electronic panel is controlled by a microprocessor unit and is equipped with visual LED fault diagno-
sis to check the state of the inputs and outputs of the control unit.
Power up the electronic card checking that the power supply at the input, primary winding, and output, secondary winding, of the transformer is correct.
Therefore there must be a mains voltage of 230 Vac and on terminals 29-30 of the card a voltage of 13÷15 V a.c. As soon as the card is powered up,
an audible warning sounds.
- The red MAINS LED, on the top of the card, indicates there is mains voltage and, therefore, it must be on when powering with mains voltage and off
when operating with the back-up battery (optional).
- The 3 GREEN LEDs, above the terminal block, at the bottom right of the card, indicate the N/C inputs (normally closed such as photocells, photocell
on opening, Stop....).
- The 4 RED LEDs, above the terminal block, at bottom right of the card, indicate the N/O (normally open) inputs.
Check that the green LEDs, for the N/C inputs, are all on (therefore all the safety devices are active) and that the red LEDs, for the N/O inputs, are off
(so there is no command present). If this does not happen, check the connections and the efficiency of the various devices.
3. PROGRAMMING WORK TIMES: AUTOMATIC OPENING AND CLOSING TIMES
This operation is necessary for the automatic gate system to work properly. It is a question of programming the space to travel through, quantifying it in
the number of impulses given by the encoder on the motor. The automatic gate system is closed and opened. The space travelled is then saved in the
card's microcontroller. Before saving the opening it is necessary to check whether the movement takes place in the right direction. Release the motor
manually and position the gate at the middle of its travel; after positioning, stop the motor again.
