Mounting (continued)
Junction box mounting -
HBS 300-WL, HBS 200-WL
If mounting to the end of a fi xture is not possible,
the HBS 300-WL, HBS 200-WL can be mounted
to a water tight junction box with a 1/2" (trade
size) threaded knockout. With the HBS 300-WL
and HBS 200-WL this may be necessary if the
fi xture location has an obstruction that would
block the view of the sensor (for example:
racking is directly beneath the fi xture). A
threaded female 1/2 inch conduit hub (supplied
by others) or STEINEL EM1 extender module
may be require depending on box type.
Wiring - HBS 300-WL, HBS 200-WL
When installing, make sure power has been
switched off at the breaker and check that the
circuit is dead with a voltage tester.
The leads consist of three wires:
Black = line
White = neutral
Red
= load
If in doubt, identify the individual conductors with
a voltage tester or contact a qualifi ed electrician.

Setup & Commissioning
Test mode
• Ensure that the sensor is in test mode.
- set time delay to minimum setting of
15 seconds
- set light level to maximum ("day" setting,
light level function overridden - factory
setting)
• Turn power ON at the circuit breaker (lights
will turn ON). After a warm up period of up to
one minute, lights will turn OFF if the sensor
does not detect motion.
• Walk in view of sensor, lights should turn ON.
Be still for 15 seconds and lights should turn
OFF.
Light level
The light level feature allows lighting to remain
OFF during daylight, regardless of occupancy.
Daytime operation is at 200 footcandles (factory
setting). Nighttime operation is at .2 footcandles.
High
Low
Light level: .2 (night) to 200 (day) footcandles
Light level teach mode
The light level teach mode reads the ambient
light level in the space and selects this amount
for the light level setting.
• Turn the light level setting to
• After 10 seconds, the value of the ambient
brightness is saved.
• This value is also saved after a power failure
if the potentiometer is set to teach mode at
power up.
Time delay
Time delay is the period of time lights remain on
after the last detection. Adjustment ranges from
15 seconds to 30 minutes. Factory setting is
15 minutes.
