Use only weaker energisers or lower outputs with reduced pulse energy (1 joule)
where children could be unattended, as well as on electric fences with alternating
polarity (positive-negative fences). NOTE: electric fence wires should not be
touched! Do not climb over, through or under multi-wire fences.
Avoid electric fences with alternating polarity, where people can get between two wires
of different polarity. If at all, only use weaker equipment (e.g. with a 1 joule limit) - even
with a non-electrified, earthed wire!
Allow people to pass through insulated gates or insulated crossings on public roads
and wherever a passage is provided. Always use a gate or a specially designed
passageway. At crossings, along public paths and wherever people could be
present, warning signs should be placed at intervals of approx. 100 m.
Keep a minimum distance of 2.5 m between the electric fence and earthed,
mechanical objects (e.g. water pipes, drinking troughs), especially if people can
be present.
If there is a risk of flooding of the electric fence, the device must not be operated
any further.
If the interval between pulses is less than 1 second, the device must be switched
off immediately and repaired if necessary. If the pulse interval exceeds 1.7 seconds,
the device is no longer safe and must be checked.
Take steps to prevent misuse of the energiser:
Check the label on the energiser
Secure the energiser against unauthorised interference (e.g. theft protection, child
protection) if the installation site requires this.
Special application of electric fences in zoos or game enclosures: the installation of
such systems may only be carried out by qualified electricians. A mechanical
protective fence must be provided to separate visitors from the electric fence.
If the power cord of this energiser becomes damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer, its service department or a similarly qualified person to prevent
injury. Service and repairs may only be carried out by authorised specialist
personnel! Only the spare parts specified by the manufacturer may be used.
