Use connectors on all steel wire fences to ensure the best possible closed circuit. To
ensure that the electric fence functions properly, the electric fence must be earthed
with galvanised grounding posts. In buildings, under driveways and in places where the
earth could lead to corrosion of exposed galvanized wire, use double insulated cable.
Never use electrical cables for household use, as these cables are designed for a maxi-
mum of 600 volts, which can cause a loss of power.
ELECTRIC FENCES REQUIREMENTS
Electric fences and their ancillary equipment must be installed, operated and main-
tained in such a way that they do not pose any danger to people, animals and their sur-
roundings. Electric fences in which animals or people can get caught must be avoided.
An electric fence must not be powered from two separate energisers or from indepen-
dent fencing circuits of the same energiser.
If there are two separate electric fences, each of which is powered by a separate elec-
tric fencing unit, the distance between the wires of the two electric fences must be at
least 2.5 m. If this gap is to be closed, this must be done with electrically non-conducti-
ve material or an insulated metal barrier. Barbed wire or sharp-edged wire must not be
electrified.
Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for electric fence grounding!
There must be a distance of at least 10 m between the energiser's grounding terminal
and all other parts connected to grounding systems, such as the protective grounding
of the power supply system or the grounding of a telecommunications system. Connec-
ting cables running inside buildings must be effectively insulated from the earthed
parts of the building. This can be achieved by using insulated high-voltage lines.
If connecting lines and wires of electric fences are installed near high voltage lines,
their height above the ground must not exceed 3 m. This height applies to each side
of the perpendicular projection of the outer conductor of the high-voltage lines on the
ground surface for a distance of
- 2 m for high-voltage lines operating at a nominal voltage of up to 1000 V;
- 15 m for high-voltage lines operating at a nominal voltage of over 1000 V;
Electric fences designed to deter birds, fence domestic animals or train animals such
as cows (cow trainers), electric fencing devices are supplied with such low power that
a sufficient and safe effect is still achieved. In the case of electric fencing designed to
prevent birds from settling on buildings, no wire of the electric fence shall be earthed
