unless the fence wires are connected to metal parts. If a wire is connected to a metal
part (e.g. the gutter) or a metal structure of the building, this metal part must be eart-
hed. A warning sign must be placed at all places where persons can gain free access to
the ladders.
Where an electric fence crosses a public footpath, the electric fence must have a
non-electrified gate or a crossing over the fence. At each of these crossings, warning
signs must point to the electric fence. Each part of an electric fence installed along a
public road or public footpath must be identified at frequent intervals by warning signs
securely attached to the fence posts or firmly clamped to the fence wires. Connection
lines that run underground must be routed in protective tubes made of insulating ma-
terial or in the form of insulated high-voltage lines. Care must be taken to ensure that
the connecting cables cannot be damaged by external influences (e.g. animal hooves,
tractor wheels, etc.). Connection lines must not be installed in the same protective tube
as mains and supply lines, communication lines or data lines.
Connection lines and wires of electric fences must not be laid above high voltage or
communication lines. Crossings with high voltage lines must be avoided. If such a cros-
sing cannot be avoided, it must be made below the power line and as close as possible
at right angles to it.
The size of the warning sign must be at least 100 x 200 mm. The background colour
on both sides of the warning sign must be yellow. The inscription on the warning sign
shall be black. The content must be „Attention: Electric Fence". The inscription must be
permanently attached to the warning sign and be at least 25 mm high.
It must be ensured that all mains-operated auxiliary equipment connected to the
electric fence circuit provides a degree of insulation between the fence circuit and the
mains supply corresponding to that of the electric fence energiser.
