2. Remove the front cover/handle (B) from the cartridge frame by removing two screws.
3. Remove the white drum retainer (D) by removing the single screw securing it to the cartridge frame. Remove the used OPC
drum (E).
4. To remove the corona assembly (C), including the corona wire cleaner, corona wire, and screen grid (H):
• Position your thumb on the front end of the corona assembly, and position two fingers in the area where the used OPC drum was
removed from the cartridge frame.
• Using your thumb, gently push the corona assembly rearward until the locating pins release from the cartridge frame. Lift the
front end of the corona assembly out of the cartridge frame. Holding the corona assembly in this position, carefully pull it away
from the white corona pivot at the rear of the cartridge frame. Lift the entire corona assembly out of the cartridge frame.
5. Remove the four screws securing the waste toner compartment lid (F) to the cartridge frame. Using a small flathead screwdriver,
carefully pry the lid from the waste toner compartment. Vacuum out waste toner.

Carefully remove the used drum cleaning blade (G) by removing the two screws securing it to the cartridge frame.
CAUTION: Perform this step with care to avoid damaging the Mylar recovery blade located directly below the drum cleaning blade.
Rebuilding:
NOTE: All used parts should be inspected and cleaned. Worn or damaged parts should be replaced prior to rebuilding the drum
unit/cartridge.
7. To rebuild the corona assembly:
• Remove the screen grid (H) and the two end block covers (J).
• Remove the two corona wire positioning blocks (K).
• Using true flush side cutters (Snap-on
secure the corona wire to the front and rear end blocks. Discard the used press fit pins and used corona wire.
• Using one corona wire anchor screw (three are provided in the Katun rebuilding kit, including one spare screw), secure the
corona wire spring (L) to the rear end block. Using a #0 Phillips screwdriver, insert and partially tighten a second screw in the
front end block. NOTE: DO NOT yet tighten this screw securely.
• Attach the looped end of the precut corona wire to the spring. Firmly pull on the wire and wrap it around the partially tightened
screw in the front end block. Tighten this screw until proper wire tension is achieved. IMPORTANT: Make certain that the spring
in the rear end block does not extend past the guide for the corona wire positioning blocks.
• Cut off excess corona wire as close as possible to the screw in the front end block. Carefully clean the new Katun corona wire
with isopropyl alcohol to remove any contaminants left by handling.
• Reinstall the two corona wire positioning blocks (K).
• Reinstall the end block covers (J) and the screen grid (H).
8. Install the new drum cleaning blade provided in the Katun Rebuild Kit, securing it with the two screws removed in step 6.
IMPORTANT: Apply a generous dusting of fresh Kynar powder to the cleaning edge of the new drum cleaning blade and the Mylar
recovery blade.
9. Reinstall the waste toner compartment lid, and secure it to the cartridge frame using the four screws removed in step 5.
10. Install the rebuilt corona assembly, making certain that the white corona pivot is securely seated in its proper position.
11. IMPORTANT: Dust the entire surface of the new Katun OPC drum with additional Kynar powder. Install the OPC drum, securing it
with the drum retainer and single screw removed in step 3. Manually rotate the OPC drum at least one complete revolution to
properly distribute Kynar powder and minimize the possibility of "blade flip."
12. Reinstall the front cover/handle, securing it to the cartridge frame with the two screws removed in step 2.
13. Return the corona wire cleaning handle to its original position.
