4. Add Pre-Ground Coffee
Use 1 level scoop of ground coffee per
cup, or more or less according to individual
taste. Replace the filter basket cover and
close filter door, making sure you hear it
snap shut.
NOTE: The maximum capacity for ground
coffee is 16 level scoops. Exceeding that
amount or using too fine a grind of coffee
may cause the filter basket to overflow.
5. Brewing
TO BREW RIGHT AWAY
a. Press the Grind Off button. The amber
LED will be illuminated.
b. Press the On/Off button. Red LED will
light up and brewing will begin.
TO PROGRAM BREW TIME
a. Press the Grind Off button. The amber
LED will be illuminated.
b. To select the time you want coffee to
start brewing, follow the "Brewing"
instructions (#5 in "Making Coffee with
Whole Beans," page 10).
Brew Pause™ Feature
Our Brew Pause™ feature interrupts the
flow of coffee from the basket to let you
pour that "first" cup mid-brew. Be aware
that using this feature will weaken the
flavor strength of the finished pot,
because the flavor profile of coffee
brewed at the beginning of the cycle
differs from coffee made at the end.
NOTE: Removing carafe for more than
20 seconds may cause filter basket to
overflow.
CLEANING AND
MAINTENANCE
COMPLETELY CLEAN AND DRY
ALL PARTS AFTER EVERY USE
Always turn coffeemaker off and remove the
plug from the electrical outlet before cleaning.
After every use, remove filter basket cover, filter
basket and permanent or paper filter. Discard
coffee grounds and paper filter. Remove carafe
and pour out any remaining coffee.
The permanent filter, filter basket, filter basket
cover, carafe and lid can be washed in warm
soapy water and rinsed thoroughly or cleaned
in the upper rack of the dishwasher. Dry all
parts after every use.
If you forget to empty the filter basket after
brewing, CLEAN BASKET will appear in the
display and the machine will not operate. Open
the filter basket door, empty the basket, and
close the door. The message will disappear
and your coffeemaker is ready to use.
TO CLEAN THE HOPPER AND
COFFEE CHUTE
We suggest cleaning the hopper and coffee chute
every 7 to 10 uses depending on frequency of use.
Hopper: Remove the lid and turn the hopper
release knob to the unlocked position. Remove
hopper and set aside any unused coffee beans.
Wash lid and hopper in warm soapy water and
rinse thoroughly, or clean in the upper rack of
the dishwasher. Dry all parts after every use.
NOTE: Do not
put any water in
the unit once
the hopper has
been removed.
If water gets
into the grinder
motor, the motor may become damaged and
malfunction.
Wipe the
area under
the hopper
with a damp
cloth to
clean.
