OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
3 • GENERAL
The PROTECTOR Control Panel is a danger detection control centre for private or commercial properties not required to set up and operate a fire
alarm system featuring components pursuant to EN 54.
6 radio alarm groups and 5 wired alarm groups are available. One of the wired alarm groups is preset for floating make contacts for connecting the
PROTECTOR MCP call point; the remaining 4 wired alarm groups can be programmed for conventional technology with a terminator element and
floating break or make contact. No more than 10 detectors may be operated per alarm group. (Fig. 17)
The different types of alarm group help to quickly assess the type of danger by means of collective indicators. The following alarm group types can
be programmed:
Radio alarm groups 1-6:
Fire (for radio smoke detector pursuant to EN 14604)
Gas alarm
Water alarm
Technical alarm (e.g. fault contact of a freezer, etc.)
House alarm
Evacuation alarm
Wired alarm groups 7-10:
Fire alarm
Gas alarm
Water alarm
Technical alarm (e.g. fault contact of a freezer, etc.)
House alarm
Evacuation alarm
Wired alarm group 11:
House alarm
The PROTECTOR Control Panel also features a panic button which directly triggers an evacuation alarm, which is not assigned to any alarm group.
The PROTECTOR Control Panel has the following outputs for emitting/relaying alarm and fault messages: (Fig. 17)
2 sounder outputs (monitored) Snd1 and Snd2 (24 VDC / 150 mA each)
2 freely programmable relays relay 1 and relay 2 NO/NC (240 VAC / 10 A each)
1 relay for collective faults FAULT NO/NC
2 outputs AUX1 and AUX2 (24 VDC / 150mA each) are available for powering external devices, such as the PROTECTOR Dialer.
The control centre can be operated using the keypad or by PC using a mouse. In the latter case, the PC is connected to the control centre via LAN
(direct connection via a cross-over cable or a switch/router, etc.).
The control centre can be programmed using the keypad or via PC using the PROTECTOR Programming Tool software.
The software can be easily updated with a PC via the USB port.
