3. Reinsert the dipstick as far as possible into the oil
filler, but do not screw down.
4. Withdraw the dipstick and check the oil level holding
it horizontally. The oil level must indicate between
the maximum and minimum mark (Fig. 15).
Engine
Regarding the maintenance and care of the engine,
observe the type-specific engine operating instructions
supplied, plus the following information.
Oil change (BRIGGS & STRATTON 4-stroke
engine)
You may drain the engine oil either via the oil drain
plug (item 10) or via the oil filler. To reach the oil drain
plug, remove the cutting blade and impeller (Fig. 13).
Particularly observe the maintenance instructions in the
separate engine operating instructions.
For the oil change on the HONDA OHC
engine, ask your local service shop to drain
the system by vacuum suction.
When draining the engine oil via the oil filler (item 10),
slowly tip the mower (at operating temperature) with
an empty fuel tank and closed oil filler cap onto that
side, where the filler is located. Wait a few minutes
before collecting the oil, then unscrew the oil filler cap
and catch the oil in a suitable container.
Please note: After changing the oil,
wash hands with a little abrasive agent,
soap and water.
Note: Never simply tip away old oil (environmental
protection); instead collect it in a designated container
approved for engine oil, and deliver it for recycling to a
suitable recycling station.
For stepped gearbox / variable gearbox please note:
Both types of gearbox are permanently filled with oil
and are designed for completely maintenance free
operation. Faults which cannot be remedied by
adjusting the Bowden cables may only be removed by
an authorised service shop.

Air filter maintenance

Note: Contaminated air filters reduce engine
performance through insufficient air supply to the
carburettor. Regular checks, in particular under dusty
conditions, are therefore essential.
Please note: Never clean air filter elements
with petrol or other flammable solvents.
Risk of fire or explosion.
Observe the notes and instructions in the type-specific
engine operating instructions.
Important information
The time and duration when lawnmowers
can be operated may be subject to local
regulations.
Observe legal requirements, which may be
different from one location to the next.
Noise is detrimental to well-being.
Wear ear defenders to prevent
damage to your hearing, if you use this
equipment for prolonged periods.

Maintenance and repairs

The maintenance and repair of modern machinery and
their safety equipment requires professional training
and a workshop equipped with special tools and test
equipment. The manufacturer therefore recommends
that all work not detailed in these operating instruc-
tions should be carried out only by professional work-
shops. Trained mechanics have the correct training,
experience and equipment to make the most cost-
effective solutions available to you and can offer you
every practical advice relating to your machine.

Spare parts

The reliable operation and safety of your machine also
depends on the quality of spare parts used. Only use
original spare parts. Only original spare parts are made
together with production machines and therefore guar-
antee optimum quality of materials, dimensional accu-
racy, function and safety. Your local specialist will sup-
ply you with original spare parts and accessories. Such
dealers will also have the necessary spare parts lists to
determine required spare parts numbers, and will be
constantly updated about product improvements and
new parts, as they become available.
Please also note that the use of non-original parts voids
any warranty.
Warranty
The manufacturer warrants perfect quality and will
undertake any remedial work or replacement of faulty
parts at his expense, should the equipment suffer any
material or manufacturing defect which occurs within
the warranty period. Please note that specific warranty
terms apply in some countries. If in doubt, check with
your retailer. The retailer of the product is responsible
for the warranty.
