RELEASING AIR PRESSURE
Release air slowly so the air from the negative chamber can also be released through the Schrader valve.
Releasing the air pressure too quickly can cause the negative chamber to have more pressure than the
positive chamber. If the shock is compressed into its travel and does not fully extend, add air pressure until
the shock extends, then slowly compress the shock through 25% of its travel 10-20 times.
REMOVING THE COIL SPRING
The coil spring can be removed to check for shock clearance within the frame, or to change to a higher or
lower rate spring.
1. Turn the preload adjuster counter-clockwise approximately 10 turns.
2. Move the coil spring toward the preload adjuster and remove the slotted spring retainer and the spring
retainer insert (the spring retainer insert is only found on Factory and Performance Elite Series shocks).
3. Slide the coil spring off the shock body. You may need to remove mounting hardware if it interferes
with spring removal.
INSTALLING THE COIL SPRING
1. Install the coil spring onto the shock body.
2. Factory and Performance Elite Series: Install the spring retainer insert onto the shock with the protruding
section positioned inside of the coil spring. Install the slotted spring retainer with the protruding section
positioned inside the spring retainer insert.
Performance Series: Install the slotted spring retainer with the protruding section positioned inside the
coil spring on Performance Series shocks.
3. Tighten the preload adjuster just until the spring no longer moves, then turn the preload adjuster one
additional full turn.
4. Set the sag according to instructions online at www.ridefox.com.
REMOTE INSTALLATION
The 2-Position remote can either be installed under the handlebar on the non-drive side, where a front shifter
would typically be placed, or installed above the handlebar on the drive side. The 2-Position remote can be
used with two cables to control both Push-to-Unlock forks and shocks simultaneously. The 3-Position remote
can be installed in-line with the handlebar on either side and can control the fork or shock.
1. Install the remote lever onto the handlebar. Do not exceed 1.7 Nm (15 in-lb). Less torque may be
needed for carbon bars. Refer to the handlebar manufacturer's instructions for use with carbon bars.
Make sure to check for clearance between the remote lever and any brake or shifter controls.
2. Route the cable housing from the remote lever to the rear shock cable stop and cut to length. Install
ferrules on both ends of the cable housing.
3. Push the release lever to set the remote lever to OPEN mode. Make sure that the cable head is
completely seated in the remote lever.
4. For 2-Position remotes only: install a short piece of housing with one ferrule between the in-line barrel
adjuster and the remote lever body.
5. With all cable housing fully seated and no slack in the system, lightly lubricate the inner cable and
thread it through the cable housing and the small hole in the blue remote pulley.
6. While holding the cable tight, tighten the 2 mm pinch bolt, cut off excess cable, and crimp the end.
