Troubleshooting

Solution
Valve won't shut off
Tighten the solenoid completely (1⁄ 4 turn beyond hand tight). Use the solenoid, which is specifically
completely.
designed to shut the valve off completely and keep it from "weeping." Also tighten the bleed screw
and bonnet screws.
Sprinklers "weep."
Use the external bleed screw to flush the valve. If performance does not improve, turn off water.
Unscrew bonnet screws and remove bonnet. Remove diaphragm and clean it in clear water. Reinstall
diaphragm and bonnet. If necessary, replace the diaphragm with kit number 231900.
Turn off the water. Remove the solenoid. Clean any dirt or grit from the solenoid bowl. Replace
solenoid. Turn on water. Check for weeping.
Valve won't open.
Check water source, controller power, and flow control to make sure they are open.
Turn off water. Unscrew bonnet screws and remove bonnet. Inspect body for debris. If filter is missing
from diaphragm, replace diaphragm with kit number 231900.
Turn off water. Remove solenoid. Carefully insert a small stiff wire in the hole in the center of the
solenoid bowl and shove it into the outlet of the valve. Do not damage the top lip of the hole in the
center of the solenoid bowl. Remove wire. Replace solenoid.
Turn off water. Remove the solenoid and replace with a known working solenoid. If the valve still
won't open, replace the original solenoid.
Turn valve on using the External Manual Bleed Screw to remove any air that may be trapped above
the diaphragm. Turn valve off using the External Manual Bleed Screw.
Valve slams on/off
Check system water pressure. If pressure is greater than 80 psi (5,5 bar), install a pressure regulator
(water hammer).
on the line before the valve to reduce water pressure.
On Flow Control models, turn zone on using the solenoid. Turn down the Flow Control handle until
a drop in system performance is noticed. Back off the Flow Control only until system performance is
restored..
NOTE: During winter shutdown, drain the system to protect HV valves from freezing. Failure to properly drain lines may damage the valves. Be
sure to comply with all local guidelines.
