SEQUENTIAL TRIP - F21PL, F33PT, F28WW, N89RH17-2MCN
Your new F21PL/F33PT/F28WW/N89RH17-2MCN comes fitted with Sequential trip as standard (Grey trigger)
1. This offers positive safety advantages since it will not accidentally drive a nail if the tool is bumped against any
surface or anybody while the operator is holding the tool with the trigger pulled.
2. Allows Place Nailing without the possibility of driving a second nail on recoil.
The sequential trip gets it name from the "sequence" required to operate the tool. To drive a nail, the operator must
first depress the trip against he work and then pull the trigger. To drive a second nail, the operator must lift the tool
from the work, release the trigger, and the repeat the above sequence.
As accurate placing is required for applying Metal Connectors, and the reasons above the F21PL/N89RH17-
2MCN must NOT be converted to a contact trip model.
Warning! To avoid serious injury from fasteners and flying debris when installing metal connectors with the
F21PL/N89RH17-2MCN:
Always use the Metal Connector Attachment. (see installation instructions).
Only use sequential trip(grey trigger).
Use only genuine Bostitch metal connector nails.
Use only one stick of metal connector nails at a time.
Metal connector nails are not designed to penetrate metal. When installing metal connectors, always place
the Metal Connector Attachment Guide in the metal connector's preformed hole before attempting to drive a
fastener. (Fig 3 & 4)
SMART TRIP - N89RH17-1
The "Smart Trip" mode of operation allows the user to decide whether the tool will fire once or multiple times with the
trigger depressed. For instance: If you pull the trigger first (and hold), each time you press the tool against the wood it will
cycle, like a contact trip (black trigger). If you press the tool FULLY against the wood, THEN pull the trigger, the tool will
only drive one nail. If the tool is lifted up and pushed against the wood a second time, it will not drive a second nail. Like
the Sequential Trip Operation (grey trigger).
NOTE: If the Smart Trip is not suitable for your application, please contact your local BOSTITCH office who will
discuss the possibility of converting the tool to standard Contact Trip.
SMART TRIP - All models
Your new BOSTITCH tool can be easily configured for use in Contact Trip "Smart Trip" mode. To drive a nail,
the "trip" and the trigger must both be depressed. In conventional Contact Trip tools, the trigger may be
depressed and held, and each "contact" between the trip and the work surface will drive a nail. However,
the "Smart Trip" assembly that came with this tool allows you to operate the tool as either Sequential or
Contact Trip, depending upon the order in which you pull the trigger. This "Smart Trip" mode of operation
allows the user to decide whether the tool will fire once or multiple times with the trigger depressed.
Warning! Contact and Smart Trip types MUST NOT be fitted or used with the Metal Connector attachment.
Warning! All models with exception of MCN versions can be fitted with Smart trip, please contact your BOSTITCH
office/distributor for the safe installation of the necessary parts.
FASTENER DEPTH CONTROL ADJUSTMENT (FIG 5)
The Fastener Depth Control Adjustment feature provides control of the nail drive depth from flush with or just above
the work surface to shallow or deep countersink.
Warning! Disconnect tool from air supply before attempting any parts disassembly and before changing the work
contacting element adjustment.
1. Push in Locking Button
2. Adjust contact arm up to increase depth of drive or down to decrease it.
3. Release locking button.
Note: Metal Connector Attachment is not adjustable for depth control.
DIRECTIONAL EXHAUST DEFLECTOR (FIG 6)
The adjustable exhaust deflector can be rotated into any desired position by hand without the use of hands.
