explosion proof.
• Clear, level, stable dry place for charger
and battery pack. Do not use charger in
damp or wet areas.
• Proper operating temperature range.
32°F – 104°F (0°C – 40°C). Tempera-
tures in excess of 122°F (50°C) will re-
duce battery performance. Avoid ex-
tended exposure to heat or sunlight.
• Appropriate power source. Check to
see that the plug fits correctly into the
outlet.
• Sufficient ventilation.
2. Make sure that the battery pack and
charger have been properly inspected.
3. With dry hands, plug the charger into the
power source and plug the barrel plug
from the charger into the port on the bat-
tery pack. The battery pack will start
charging automatically. A red indicator
light will turn ON.

ber 36558 or 36548 to charge RIDGID
Battery Catalog number 36563 or Catalog
number 36553.
4. When the battery pack is fully charged
the red light will turn green. Once the
battery pack is charged it can remain
connected to the charger until ready to be
used.
5. When ready to use the battery pack, with
dry hands, remove charger plug from the
battery pack and unplug the charger from
the outlet.
Tool Set Up and
Operation
WARNING
Set up and operate the TC-40 Cutter ac-
cording to these procedures to reduce
the risk of injury from electric shock,
fire, cutting, crushing and other causes,
and prevent tool damage.
Keep fingers and other body parts away
from the blade. The blade is sharp and
can cause cutting and crushing injuries.
Always wear eye protection to protect
your eyes against dirt and other foreign
objects.
1. Check work area for:
• Adequate lighting.
• Flammable liquids, vapors or dust that
may ignite. If present do not work in
area until sources have been identified
and corrected. TC-40 Cutter is not ex-
plosion proof.
• Clear, level, stable, dry place for opera-
tor. Do not use the TC-40 Cutter while
standing in water.
2. Inspect the pipe/tube to be cut and make
sure that the TC-40 Cutter is the appropri-
ate tool for the job. Do not cut pressurized
pipe or pipe with any contents such as
water, gas or wires. Do not cut metallic
pipe or tube, except as indicated in the
specifications. Cutting these can cause
explosions, electrical shock and other
serious injury and can damage the cutter.

3. Make sure that the TC-40 Cutter and bat-
tery pack have been properly inspected.
4. If needed, install the multi-layer pipe sup-
port adapter by sliding it over the tool
pipe cradle. The adapter must be firmly
seated on the tool cradle. Re-inspect the
pipe indicator switch for proper function
according to the Pre-Operation Inspection
section. The pipe indicator switch must
work properly.

5. If the PVC pipe is cold (less than 50°F
(10°C), it may need to be warmed up
