SURE-LITES
INSTALLATION-Surface Mounting/Surface Wiring
NOTE: All wiring must comply with applicable electrical codes.
Step 1. Turn off power supply before starting any wiring. Remove backplate from unit.
Step 2. Unsnap plastic tether straps and unplug transformer to completely separate back plate from the rest of the unit.
Step 3. Remove the corrugated packing material from inside the unit. This packing is for shipping purposes only and must be removed before
operating the unit.
Step 4. Remove cover and punch out 7/8" KO and appropriate mounting slot KO's
Step 5. Mount back plate to wall or ceiling and run conduit to 7/8" hole.
Step 6. Connect unswitched 24 hour power supply of rated voltage per wiring diagram. (Black 120V, Orange 277V, White Neutral). NOTE:
Ground lead must be connected per applicable electrical code.
Step 7. Replace cover. NOTE: All supply connections must b inside cover.
Step 8. Cut out housing to clear surface wiring conduit.
Step 9. Connect battery leads to battery in main unit. Blue lead negative, red lead positive.
Step 10. Snap tether straps onto back plate and plug transformer in to P.C. board.
Step 11. Hang unit on back plate and tighten two screws to lock into place.
Step 12. Turn on power supply.
Step 13. To test, depress "charge test" button on bottom of unit. Lamps will
come on.
INSTALLATION-Junction Box Mounting
NOTE: All wiring must comply with applicable electrical codes.
Step 1. Turn off power supply before starting any wiring. Remove backplate from
unit.
Step 2. Unsnap plastic tether straps and unplug transformer to completely sepa-
rate back plate from the rest of the unit.
Step 3. Remove the corrugated packing material from inside the unit. This packing
is for shipping purposes only and must be removed before operating the
unit.
Step 4. Remove cover and punch out 5/16" DO and appropriate mounting slot
KO's from back plate.
Step 5. Feed transformer primary leads and green ground lead through 5/16" hole
into JB side and replace cover.
Step 6. Connect unswitched 24 hour power supply of rated voltage per wiring dia-
gram. (Black 120V, Orange 277V, White Neutral). NOTE: Ground lead
must be connected per applicable electrical code.
Step 7. Mount backplate to junction box. NOTE: All supply connections must b
inside cover.
Step 8. Connect battery leads to battery in main unit. Blue lead negative, red lead
positive.
Step 9. Snap tether straps onto back plate and plug transformer into P.C. board.
Step 10. Hang unit on back plate and tighten two screws to lock into place.
Step 11. Turn on power supply.
Step 12. To test, depress "charge test" button on bottom of unit. Lamps will come on.
ADJUSTING LAMP HEADS
Step 1. There are two (2) aiming adjustments. One turns the entire clear plastic dome, the other rotates the lamp assembly within the dome.
Step 2. To turn the dome, loosen the end ring by turning counterclockwise, turn dome and re-lock into place by tightening the end ring. Dome has
stops to prevent it from turning more than 180°.
Step 3. To rotate the lamp assembly within the dome, use a flat blade screwdriver. Press in with screwdriver to more easily turn lamp assembly on its
ratchet. Lamp assembly has stops to prevent it from rotating more than 180°.
TAD Wiring
If the fixture is provided with the TAD option, follow the mounting instructions outlined in these instructions. It is already pre-wired to
a Tee Cable Adapter. The Tee Cable Adapter will be wired for the Modular Wiring System voltage and is to connect to the
appropriate system cable set. No wiring other than this connection is necessary.
CAUTION: Units with the TAD options are not individual units but are part of a designed MWS System. They are for a specific volt-
age and must be coordinated with the design of the entire MWS System per a factory provided system layout.
