EXTENSION CORD SELECTION
If an extension cord is used, make sure the conductor size is large enough to
prevent excessive voltage drop which will cause loss of power and possible motor
damage. A table of recommended extension cord sizes will be found in this section.
This table is based on limiting line voltage drop to 5 volts (10 volts for 230 volts) at
150% of rated amperes.
If an extension cord is to be used outdoors it must be marked with the suffix W-A
or W following the cord type designation. For example — SJTW-A to indicate it is
acceptable for outdoor use.

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

FOREWORD
PORTER-CABLE Model 7812/7814 wet/dry vacuum delivers 99.85% filtration
efficiency which is great for fine particulate pick-up, like drywall or surface dust.
These units come equipped with a powerful 9 amp motor, built in outlet for use
with power tools providing automatic vacuum start-up when tool is turned on
and a 6–10 second vacuum overrun to clear hose when tool is turned off, dual
filtration system, corrosion resistant tank, large wheels for easy maneuvering and a
convenient flat top surface tray for holding tools while working.
UNPACKING (FIG. 1)
Carefully remove the vacuum cleaner from the carton. Retain all packing materials
until you have inspected and satisfactorily operated the vacuum cleaner.
Do not connect the appliance to the power source until you read
and understand this entire instruction manual.
1.
Release the two container locks (A, Fig. 1), (one on each side of vacuum
cleaner), by pulling outward on the bottom of each lock.
2.
Lift the motor unit from the container and carefully set aside.
3.
Remove the wheels and accessories from the container.
