D Turn needle valve, marked ''Retract" on top of housing, approximately 1- - 1/2
turns counterclockwise (open).
D Turn the other needle valve, marked ''Forward" on top of housing, clockwise
until closed (do not tighten too snugly).
D Start the unit and slowly turn needle valve, marked ''Forward", counterclock-
wise (open) until the desired forward rate of feed is reached.
D A final adjustment of the rate of return (retract) can be made with the needle
valve marked ''Retract" on housing.
TIMING VALVE (METERING NEEDLE)
D The timing valve is used to regulate the time lapse between the drill reaching
the drill depth and the time the unit retracts.
D The timing valve can be adjusted so the unit will retract immediately,up thru a
range of approximately 7 seconds.
D Turn the timing valve clockwise to increase the time delay.
D Turn the timing valve counterclockwise to decrease the timing delay.

REMOTE OPERATION

D Install a tube connector (59756- - 004) in the valve port on top of the end cap.
D Connect the port (using 1/8", 3 mm, i.d. tubing) to a remote operated valve
which, when actuated, causes the spool valve in the valve housing to shift to
the forward feed position, thus starting the forward stroke of the tool.
D Install a tube connector (59756- - 004) in the valve port marked ''Retract Sig-
nal" on top of valve housing.
D Connect the port (using 1/8", 3 mm, i.d. tubing) to a remote MANUALLY oper-
ated valve. This valve is used as an emergency retract in case of a part mis-
alignment. When properly set- - up and applied, the tool will automatically
retract and return to the start position. See ''Set- - Up Procedure".
SPECIAL NOTE: The air inlet and remote ports ofthe valve housing have tapered
pipe threads and should not require the use of thread sealants, such as sealant
tape or pipe joint compounds. Thread sealants, when used improperly, can con-
taminate air passages and cause valve or tool malfunction.
D Do not lubricate tools with flammable or volatile liquids such as
kerosene, diesel or jet fuel.
D Do not remove any labels. Replace any damaged label.
D Use only accessories recommended by ARO.
NOTICE
D The use of other than genuine ARO replacement parts may
