1. Definitions and pictograms

1.1. Definitions
"Operator": Person or department in charge of using
the TA shear test plate.
"Installer": Person or department in charge of installing,
removing and dismantling, and transporting the TA test
plate for warehousing or storage.
"CR": Shear load of central section 'S' of TA test plate.
1.2. Pictograms
DANGER: Indicates safety information to prevent
death or serious or minor injuries to personnel.
IMPORTANT: Indicates information aimed at
preventing a failure or damage to the product, but not
representing a hazard to the life of the installer, operator
or other persons.

2. Presentation

The TA test plate is used for periodic checks on the
holding power of an anchor point.
The test load is reached when the central section of the
plate (Fig. 3, page 4, item S) shears. A pair of brace
arms (Fig. 3, page 4, item B) secure the loading line
after shearing of the 'S' section.
2.1. Composition of standard supply
The TA shear test plates are delivered in batches of N
plates (chapter 11. Markings) contained in PE bags.
Each bag comes with this instruction manual. The
quantity N of test plates per batch is defined in
accordance with CR shear load of the plate.

2.2. Definition
A full range of TA test plates has been developed
in order to test anchor points in traction. The plate
fastening holes (Fig. 2, page 4, item T) are designed
to receive high-strength bow shackles.
The different TA test plates are made of stainless steel
of the same grade to ensure shearing of the section
(Fig. 3, page 4, item S) to a level of precision of
+/- 10 % of the CR shear load indicated on the TA
test plate (chapter 11. Markings). The brace arms
(Fig. 3, page 4, item B) are designed to ensure
a mechanical strength of at least the CR shear load
indicated on the test plate.
Operating principle of test plate
• Loading of the TA test plate (Fig. 2, page 4).
• At the shear load CR indicated on the TA test plate
(chapter 11. Markings) shear of S section (Fig. 3,
page 4, item S).
→ Elongation of plate and appearance of clearance 'J'
between upper and lower half-parts of TA test plate
(Fig. 1, page 4, clearance J).
→ Test completed, the anchor point is tested to the CR.
