FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

For models with chassis numbers up to 300 000:
Before commencing assembly, a hole must be drilled of 40mm diameter
for the cable set. See figure B.(please see the manualissued by Mazda
for the cable set.)
1. Remove the plastic back panel and the plastic side panels to the left and
right of the boot. Remove the rearlight units and the bumper. The bum-
per attachment points are found at the wheel casings, in the boot
against the bulkhead, and underneath against the bulkhead and under
the taillight units.
2. Two people together should then remove the bumper and place it where
it can not be damaged. Remove the crash replacement pans from the
rear panel; these will no longer be needed. Saw the portions out of the
bumper which are indicated in fig. 1 and fig. 2. Remove the two corner
pieces from the bumper (see fig.C). Remove the sticker indicated in fig.
3. If there is no sticker, the blind holes should be marked and drilled to
a diameter of 12 mm from the inside out.
3. Place the towbar on the vehicle, the U-profiles are to be placed into the
left hand and right hand side chassis longitudinals. Drill the uppermost
holes Band C (ø12 mm) through the rear panel. Enlarge the holes D to
ø12 mm. Fit four M10 x 40 bolts at points A including backing plates and
spring washers. Fit two M10x35 bolts including flat washers (ø25x
10.5x4) spring washers and nuts at points B and two M10x35 bolts
including flat washers, spring washers and nuts at points B. Fit two M10
4x M8x25 bolts

x35 bolts at points E including flat washers (ø25x 10.5x4) spring was-
hers and nuts and fit two M12 x35 bolts at points D including backing
plates, spacer plates, spring washers and nuts. Position the bumper,
mark the holes on the rear panel via the bumper. Remove the bumper
and drill these marked holes out to ø 9 mm. Replace the bumper and fix
with the original bolts with spacer washers (ø 25 x10.5 x 4) and replace
the rear light units. Replace the two corner pieces on the bumper.
Replace the panels removed from the boot.
4. Position the ball hitch and fasten it using two M12x70/26.2 bolts, inclu-
ding socket plate, flat washers, and self-locking nuts. Tighten all nuts
and bolts to the torque indicated in the table.
For models with chassis numbers 300 001->:
Before commencing assembly, a holemust be drilled of 25mm diameter for
the cable set. (See figure).B. (please see the manual issued by Mazda
for the cable set.)
1. Remove the plastic back panel in the boot. Remove the taillight units
and the bumper. The bumper attachment points are found at the wheel
casings, underneath against the bulkhead and under the taillight units.
2. Two people together should then remove the bumper and place it where
it can not be damaged. Make an incision of 50x12mm underneath the
middle of the bumper.Saw the portions out of the bumper which are indi-
cated in fig. 1a and fig. 2a.
On the left and right, remove the crash replacement pans along with the
pole connecting to the rear panel, which close of the holes in the chas-
sis. This will no longer be needed. (see figure A1)
3. Place the tow bar on the vehicle, sliding the tow bar's U-sections into the
left and right-hand chassis longitudinals. Drill holes C ø12mm through
the rear panel. Enlarge holes B and D to ø12mm. Attach four M10x40
bolts at points A, including backing plates and spring washers. Attach at
