Installation
ATTENTION: the device must only be installed by qua-
lified personnel, observing the current regulations
and the guidelines for video entryphone installations,
which can be found in the Technical System Manual.
Ethernet LAN port 1-4 configuration
The Ethernet LAN ports 1, 2, 3 and 4 can be configured as standard
ports or as PoL powered ports (Power over LAN).
The devices that can be connected depend on the port configura-
tion (see Connection diagram).
The PoL power supply is disabled using the specific slide-type
one-way switch. When the PoL power supply is enabled, the
corresponding red LED will turn on (figure Components, 9).
ATTENTION: The PoL power supply is enabled or disabled on
all four LAN ports 1-4, different combinations are not
possible.
Warnings for installation
The length of the power supply cable between the Ethernet
Switch (GW 18 371) and the power supply must not exceed
100 m with a cable section of 1 mm
The connection between the Ethernet Switch and another
device must always be made using a UTP LAN network cable
cat.5e or higher (for example GW 38 189 for indoor instal-
lation or GW 38 195 for outdoor installation, or equivalent
commercially available cables).
The length of the LAN cable may not exceed 100 metres.
A "ring" type ethernet switch connection is not possible.
Assembly on the DIN rail
To assemble the switch on a 35 mm DIN rail, proceed as follows:
1.
Insert the upper device coupling in the DIN rail.
2.
Push the device against the DIN rail and block it acting on the
fixing tab.
1
2
Make sure that the device is well fixed on the DIN rail.
Electric connections
ATTENTION: before making the electric connections,
make sure all the equipment and cables are not powered.
Connect the power supply (14.4 Vdc) to the screw terminals,
respecting polarities.
Use the LAN cables to connect the necessary devices to the
switch.
After powering the switch, wait 3 minutes before configuring the
various system devices.
.
2
ATTENTION: do not obstruct the ventilation openings!
In service
Signalling
The following indicator lamps must be on during operation:
red fixed LED for the power supply.
red fixed PoL LED (only if the PoL power supply is enabled).
green blinking LED for each port to which a device is
connected. If the LED is off when a device is connected, this
means there is no communication between the device and
the switch (device not functioning or connection interrupted).
Device cleaning
Use a dry cloth to clean the Ethernet switch if necessary.
