Unpacking Your Tool

• Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Fully familiarise yourself with all
its features and functions
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If
any parts are missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before
attempting to use this tool
Operating Instructions
Warning
Never fit any attachment with a maximum speed lower than the no load
speed of the machine.
Fitting a drill bit
• Open the Chuck (1) jaws by rotating the front chuck ring clockwise
• The drill bit can then be placed into the chuck
• Tighten the chuck jaws by rotating the front chuck ring anti-clockwise
• Do not run the drill whilst tightening or releasing the chuck
• When the drill bit is held tightly, test that it is central by running the drill.
The drill bit should rotate smoothly with no 'wobble'. If the drill bit is not
central, release the chuck, and retighten
Direction control
• The direction of rotation can be set using the Forward/Reverse Selector
(4)
• To make the drill rotate anti-clockwise, push the forward/reverse selector
to the right
• To make the drill rotate clockwise, push the forward/reverse selector
to the left
• When the forward/reverse selector is in the central position, the drill is
locked
• Do not attempt to move the forward/reverse selector when the drill is
running
Torque control and mode selection
• This drill is fitted with a Torque Control Clutch (3). This limits the torque
output of the drill, enabling screws to be driven without the risk of
damage
• The clutch settings are indicated by the symbols on the clutch ring
• Rotate the clutch ring to select the correct torque
Hammer mode selection
• For drilling and hammer drilling, rotate the Torque Control Clutch (3) ring
to the
symbol. This will lock the clutch for maximum torque
• To select drilling without hammer action, rotate the Hammer Mode
Selector (2) to the
symbol
• To select drilling with hammer action, rotate the hammer mode selector
to the
symbol
Switching on
• To start the drill, squeeze the Trigger Switch (6)
• The speed of the drill is controlled by the movement of the trigger, the
further the trigger is depressed, the faster the drill will run
Drilling concrete
• Using hammer drill mode, apply pressure to the rear of the drill, in line
with the drill bit
• For efficient drilling, it is advisable to use TCT (tungsten carbide tipped)
drill bits. Ensure that the bit size is within the maximum capacity of the
machine (see specifications)
• Do not apply too much pressure. If debris blocks the drill hole, run the
drill slowly and remove the bit from the hole. Repeat until hole is cleared
Drilling wood
• Use rotary drilling mode only
• Ensure that drill bits are suitable for wood, and are within the maximum
capacity of this machine (see specifications)
Drilling metal
• To ensure accuracy, mark the intended hole position using a hammer
and centre punch
• Use rotary drill mode only
• Ensure that drill bits are suitable for the grade of metal being drilled, and
are within the maximum capacity of the machine (see specifications
above)
6
• To ensure efficient cutting, and prolong drill bit life, use a suitable
lubricant or cutting fluid, and drill at moderate speed
Charging the battery
• The following procedure should be followed:
• The battery should be fully discharged before charging
• The battery should be charged at 20˚C (room temperature)
• Plug the charger into the power supply
• Ensure that the power supply is switched on
• Insert the battery pack into the charger
• The red indicator light will illuminate, indicating that the battery is being
charged. This will take approximately 1 hour
• After charging, allow 15mins for the battery to cool before use
• Ensure that the charger is disconnected from the mains supply, and is
stored correctly
• Do not leave batteries on charge for extended periods and do not store
batteries on charge
Maintenance
WARNING: Always remove the plug from the mains power supply before
carrying out any maintenance/cleaning.
Cleaning
• Keep your machine clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal
parts to wear quickly, shortening the machine's service life.
• Clean the body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth. If
available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation
holes
Disposal
• Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic
equipment, with household waste
• Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the correct
way to dispose of tools
