Before Use

Removing the battery from the drill
• To remove the Battery (5) from the drill, press both Battery Clips (6) and
pull the Battery downwards out of the housing
Setting up the charger
1. If fitted, remove any Battery (5) from the Battery Charger (8)
2. Connect the Battery Charger to the mains power supply
3. The Green LED will illuminate to show the charger is powered
WARNING: Only use this Battery Charger to charge the supplied batteries.
WARNING: The charger is designed for indoor use only and must not be
exposed to moisture and rain.
Charging the battery
WARNING: Failure to follow the correct procedure when charging the
batteries will result in permanent damage.
1. Insert a discharged Battery into the Battery Charger (8)
2. The red LED of the Battery Charger will flash to indicate charging
has commenced. If the red LED doesn't flash, recheck the Battery is
correctly inserted in the Battery Charger. Remove any material that
may have fallen into the battery socket of the Battery Charger and
make sure the contacts of both the Battery and the Battery Charger
are clean, untarnished metal and not damaged or bent
3. A full charge will take approximately 1 hour. The Battery Charger
is timed to operate for approximately 1 hour and will stop charging
automatically
Note: If a partially discharged battery is charged the charger will sense the
increase in temperature of the battery before 1 hour and stop charging. It is
recommended to charge only fully discharged batteries and not rely on this
safety feature to maximise the lifespan of the batteries
4. When the Battery is fully charged the red LED will stop flashing and be
continuously illuminated
5. Remove the Battery from the charger and switch off the charger
Note: The Battery should be charged completely before using the drill for
the first time.
Further notes about battery charging:
• Except for the initial charge, the Battery should be fully discharged before
recharging to maximise lifespan of the battery
• The Battery should be charged at ambient temperatures between 10 and
40°C (ideally close to 20°C)
• After charging, allow 15 minutes for the battery to cool before use
• Ensure that the Battery Charger is disconnected from the mains supply,
and is stored correctly
• DO NOT leave batteries on charge for extended periods and NEVER store
batteries on charge
• Charge batteries close to when they will be used, ideally the previous day
or the same day
• The Battery Charger monitors the Battery temperature while charging
and has a maximum charge time. However it is recommended to remove
the Battery as soon as it completes charging to maximise charge cycles
of the Battery
