Troubleshooting Tips

Save time and money! Review the following chart first
and you may not need to call for service.
Problem
Fan does not operate
when the switch is on
Fan fails to circulate air
or moves air more slowly
than normal
Fan continually cycles
off and on
Compact Fluorescent
Lamp appears dim
on start up
Compact Fluorescent
Lamp briefly
flickers on start up
After replacing one
lamp, the new lamp
appears to be a
different color

Possible Causes
A fuse may be blown or a
circuit breaker may be tripped.
Excessively soiled filter.
The motor is probably
overheating and turning itself
off. This can be harmful to
the motor. Filter may be
excessively soiled.
This is normal for Compact
Fluorescent Lamps especially
on first installation.
This is normal for Compact
Fluorescent Lamps

The replacement lamp may
have a different color
temperature rating : i.e. is
3000K instead of 2700K.
The replacement lamp may
be from a different
manufacturer.
What To Do
• Replace fuse or reset circuit breaker.
• Wash and replace the filters. See the Reusable
Metal Grease Filters section.
• Replace the filter if it is too soiled to clean. If it
is not soiled, or if replacing the filter does not
solve the problem, call for service.
• Sufficient makeup (replacement) air is required for
exhausting appliances to operate to rating. Check with
local building codes, which may require or strongly advise
the use of makeup air. Visit GEAppliances.com for available
makeup air solutions.
• Replace the filter if it is soiled. If it is not soiled,
or if replacing the filter does not solve the problem,
call for service.
• Allow lamp to run for several minutes. If this warm up
time does not solve the problem replace the lamp.
• Allow lamp to run for several minutes.

• Use a GE 15W GU24 base lamp with a 2700K rating.
