9.4 Replacing the carbon brushes
W
Electric shock due to electronic component damage
When replacing carbon brushes and turbines, electrical connections must be disconnected and
reconnected. Fatal electric shock may occur if electronic components become damaged or improperly
uninstalled in the process.
► The carbon brushes and turbines should be replaced only by a qualified electrician.
The service life of the first set of carbon brushes at 230 V is approx. 800 hours, at 115 V approx. 500 hours.
The service life is reduced by 20% each time the carbon brush is replaced. The carbon brushes can be
replaced twice in total. After that, the motor must be replaced.
