It is the responsibility of the employer to place this information into the hands of the operator.
A Fluid Heater consists of a housing in which a circulating fluid is heated with a thermostatically controlled
cartridge heater used to raise and control temperatures and to control viscosity of process fluids. Any other
use may cause equipment damage and / or serious injury or death.
READ, UNDERSTAND, AND FOLLOW THIS INFORMATION TO AVOID INJURY AND PROPERTY DAMAGE.

EXPLOSION HAZARD
All fluid heater models listed in the Declarations of Conformity (lo-
cated near the end of the manual) conform to the requirements of
the EW "Machinery Directive. Additionally, some models conform
to the EU "ATEX Directive" and may be used in some potentially
explosive atmospheres as defined in Class (Ex) EExd IIB T3 and (CE)
0891 II 2G, but ONLY when the special conditions listed below
under the section "Special Conditions for Fluid Heaters in Poten-
tially Explosive Atmospheres" are followed. The ATEX-conforming
models are listed on the Declaration of Conformity that includes
both the Machinery and ATEX directives in the section titled "This
product complies with the following European Community Direc-
tives". Fluid heater models listed in the Declaration of Conformity
which ONLY conform to the EU "Machinery Directive" are NOT to
be used in potentially explosive atmospheres.
SAFETY INFORMATION - EXPLANATION OF
SAFETY SIGNAL WORDS
WARNING WARNING indicates a hazardous situation which,
if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION CAUTION, used with the safety alert symbol,
indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could
result in minor or moderate injury.
NOTICE
NOTICE is used to address practices not related
to personal injury.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS FOR FLUID HEATERS IN
POTENTIALLY EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERES (ATEX)
WARNING Non-compliance with any of these special con-
ditions could create an ignition source that may ignite any
potentially explosive atmospheres.
Only fluid heater models conforming to the EU "ATEX Directive"
should be used in potentially explosive atmospheres.
WARNING DUST IGNITION HAZARD. Certain dusts may
ignite at pump surface temperature limits. Ensure proper
housekeeping to eliminate dust buildup on the fluid heater.
WARNING Do not perform maintenance or repairs in an
area where explosive atmospheres are present.
WARNING EXCESSIVE HIGH PRESSURE. Can cause severe
injury or death.
Do not exceed 5000 p.s.i. (34.5 MPa) maximum.
Improper usage of this equipment could result in serious in-
jury.
The possibility of injection into the flesh is a potential hazard.
Never allow any part of the human body to come in front of, or
in direct contact with the material outlet. Any injection injury
can be serious. If injection should occur, contact a qualified
physician for immediate treatment.
Do not exceed the maximum working pressure as stated on
the model plate.

GENERAL INFORMATION

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS
HAZARDOUS PRESSURE
Do not exceed the maximum working pressure capability of
the lowest rated component in the system.
WARNING STATIC SPARK. Can cause explosion resulting in
severe injury or death. Ground the system.
Sparks can ignite flammable material and vapors.
The pumping system and object being sprayed must be
grounded when it is pumping, flushing, recirculating or spray-
ing flammable materials such as paints, solvents, lacquers, etc.
or used in a location where surrounding atmosphere is condu-
cive to spontaneous combustion. Ground the dispensing valve
or device, containers, hoses and any object to which material
is being pumped.
Do not use neutral as earth ground. A single phase power I
earth groung is required.
Secure all contact points to avoid vibration and generation of
contact or static spark.
Consult local building codes and electrical codes for specific
grounding requirements.
After grounding, periodically verify continuity of electrical path
to ground. Test with an ohmmeter from each component (e.g.,
hoses, pump, clamps, container, spray gun, etc.) to ground to
insure continuity. Ohmmeter should show 0.1 ohms or less.
Provide short circuit protection as required by national, state
and local codes and regulations.
Provide a full dual-pole overcurrent protection device as re-
quired by national, state and local codes and regulations.
Use hoses incorporating a static wire or use groundable pip-
ing.
Use proper ventilation.
Keep inflammables away from heat, open flames and sparks.
Keep containers closed when not in use.
WARNING EXPLOSION HAZARD. To reduce the riskof seri-
ous injury from fire or explosion, install the heater away
from all flammable materials and debris and where opera-
tors will not come in contact with hot surfaces.
Models containing aluminum wetted parts cannot be used
with Ill.Trichloroethane, Methylene Chloride or other Haloge-
nated Hydrocarbon solvents which may react and explode.
Check the heater wetted parts for compatibility before using
with solvents of this type.
WARNING HAZARDOUS PRESSURE. Can result in serious
injury or property damage. Do not service or clean pump,
hoses or dispensing valve while the system is pressurized.
Disconnect air supply line and relieve pressure from the system
by opening dispensing valve or device and / or carefully and
slowly loosening and removing outlet hose or piping from
heater.
