Clean the Heater Unit
Clean the combustion chamber, chimney, and fan once a
year or as needed.
See the heater unit operator's manual for cleaning
information.
Lift the Heater Trailer with a Jack
WARNING
Crush Hazard
Working under a lifted trailer could result in death or serious
injury. Use jack stands or blocks to hold the lifted trailer up
before working under it.
Use a jack rated at 2 tons minimum (1.8 t) to lift the heater
trailer.
Lift the heater trailer from one side only.
To lift the heater trailer:
1. Put the heater trailer on a firm stable surface that will
hold the weight of the trailer and the force exerted on the
ground by the jack.
2. Adjust the tongue jack so that the heater trailer is level
front to back.
3. Put wheel chocks against the front and back of the wheel
on the opposite side of the heater trailer to be lifted.
4. Put the jack behind the rear spring bracket. Lift the jack
until it touches the bottom of the trailer.
NOTICE Lift the heater trailer only as high as needed to
do the work.
NOTICE Lifting the heater trailer by the axle or suspension
could result in damage to the axle. Lift the heater trailer by
the chassis, if possible on the 'C' channel running the length
of the trailer in line with the spring brackets and springs.
5. Use jack stands or blocks rated at 2 tons minimum to hold
the heater trailer up for long periods or to work under the
heater trailer.

Tire Pressure

WARNING
Towing a trailer with worn, damaged or underinflated tires
could result in death or serious injury. Replace worn or
damaged tires. Keep tires inflated to the correct cold tire
inflation pressure.
Do a check of the tire pressure with a tire pressure gauge.
Adjust as needed. See Specifications for correct tire
pressure.

Battery Maintenance

WARNING
Battery electrolyte fluid contains acid and is extremely
caustic. Contact with battery contents could cause severe
chemical burns.
• DO NOT open or mutilate the battery
• Wear protective goggles, rubber apron, rubber boots
and rubber gloves.
• Immediately wash electrolyte from skin with water.
• If electrolyte contacts eyes, immediately flush with
water and seek medical attention.
• Spilled electrolyte is to be washed down with an acid
neutralizing agent.
WARNING
Storage batteries give off explosive hydrogen gas
during recharging. Slightest spark could ignite hydrogen
and cause explosion, resulting in death or serious injury.
• DO NOT dispose of battery in a fire. Recycle battery.
• DO NOT allow any open flame, spark, heat, or lit
cigarette during and for several minutes after charging a
battery.
WARNING
A battery presents a risk of high short circuit current.
• Remove watches, rings, or other metal objects.
• Use tools having insulated handles.
• Disconnect charging source prior to connecting or
disconnecting battery terminals.
• Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of batteries.
• Disconnect the negative (-) cable at the battery during
installation and maintenance.
Remove and Install the Battery
To remove the battery:
1. Remove the terminal covers from the battery terminals.
2. Disconnect the black negative (-) cable(s) from the
negative (-) battery terminal, and secure away from the
battery.
3. Disconnect the red positive (+) cable(s) from the positive
(+) battery terminal, and secure away from the battery.
4. Remove the hardware (B, Figure 25) from the holddown
bracket (C), and remove the holddown bracket.
5. Carefully remove the battery (A, Figure 25), and put in a
well-ventilated area on a level surface.
