However, under certain circumstances you may need
additional weight in lightweight cars so that they can
cause the switch rails to move to the desired setting. We
therefore recommend setting the turnout for the correct
direction in the interests of reliable operation, even if the
train is entering the turnout „from behind".
EPL Circuits
The 12070 auxiliary switch is a two-pole switch that is
plugged in at the turnout mechanism after the rear cover
plate on the turnout mechanism has been lifted out with
a screwdriver. This gives you a relay that you can use to
control your trains in a variety of ways.
12360 Three-Way Turnout
The 12360 three-way turnout comes with two 12010
turnout mechanisms. The diode included with this turnout
must be installed on the 51750 controller between the two
orange-colored connections, since the switch rails can
otherwise affect each other when they are being set.
Double Slip Switch
You need at least two short sections of track (10050,
10090, or 11040) for the installation of the 12260 double
slip switch. The ends of the ties on these sections of
track have snap-off locations so that the ties can be
shortened for the installation with the double slip switch.
Note:
If a train goes through the double slip switch although
not all of the switch rails are set for that path, the train
will „burst" the switch rails. However, some of the
switch rails may remain between the two positions,
which can lead to derailment of a train coming behind
this train.
Maintenance
LGB turnouts require a little maintenance now and then,
above all when used outdoors:
• Keep the turnouts free of dirt, leaves, pebbles, and
stones, etc. to ensure trouble-free operation.
• LGB turnout mechanisms are not to be greased.
• LGB turnout mechanisms should never stand in water.
Install the mechanisms so that water flows away and
does not collect near them.
• In the winter, cover all LGB mechanisms mounted
outdoors.
