SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNINGS
The Rapr•Round body wraps are used with a device that generates heat. Excessive heat could cause thermal stress or skin
lesions. Failure to follow these precautions could result in death or serious injury:
US Federal Law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a licensed health care professional.
The body wraps have not been tested with other manufacturer's machines. The vest and leg wraps are only for use
with Stryker Medi-Therm
If the patient's temperature is not responding as expected, notify the attending physician promptly.
Failure to monitor core temperature could result in abnormal elevation or reduction of body temperature resulting in
serious injury or death.
Do not apply heat to the lower extremities during aortic cross -clamping. Ischemic injury may occur.
Do not use the body wraps to position or transfer patients.
Keep hoses free and clear of patient. Do not allow hoses to become folded, kinked or wrapped around the patient.
To insure proper water flow through the body wrap, follow the Flow Check Procedure.
To prevent patient injury, follow hospital/departmental protocol to secure patient on table/bed.
Patients who have peripheral vascular disease, inadequate heart function, reduction in blood volume or who are
temperature-sensitive, may deviate from the normal response to the external application of heat a nd cold. This
patient population needs to be monitored closely for signs of intolerance.
Electrosurgical pads may be used when conductive warming body wraps are applied. In the unlikely event that the
body wrap may leak, do not place electrosurgical pads between the patient and the conductive body wrap.
Prep solutions pooling beneath the patient may cause chemical injury.
Check the integrity of the skin according to unit protocol when regulating temperature with external devices.
Frequency of assessment and documentation will vary depending upon the individual response of the patient.
Risk of cross-contamination (e.g. infection, allergic reaction) if product were to be reused.
