Before applying your blood pressure cuff, be sure you
have selected the appropriate size cuff:
Adult Cuff fits arm circumference:
8.6" to 16.5" inches (about 22 – 42 cm)
A 15 minute resting period is needed to stabilize the
body prior to taking a reading. No eating, drinking or
smoking while resting.
Applying the Arm Cuff
Remove any constrictive clothing
or jewelry that may interfere
with cuff placement. Wrap the
cuff snugly around your left
arm. Position the cuff's bottom
edge one inch ABOVE the
elbow joint. Apply the cuff to
your left arm so that the digital
display face is positioned on
the inside area of your arm
facing you, and the word 'ELBOW'
is centered over the inside bend of
your elbow.
