17 . Troubleshooting chart

Problem
DWA cannot be armed
Car check tone (signal after dual
acknowledgement signal when
arming the alarm) sounds
Battery repeatedly discharged
LED for DWA does not light up

18. Function test

The DWA cannot be armed if the ignition key is in position I or II.
Procedure
1. Arm alarm system with remote control key
2. The hazard lights flash twice and the emergency-current siren
emits a signal
3. The hazard lights flash twice and the emergency-current siren emits
a signal and a follow-up signal which lasts for approx. 1 second
4. After the DWA LED in the centre console has been lit continuously
for approx. 45 seconds, it will start to flash at scanning speed (1:1)
5. Activate the ultrasonic sensors during the 45 seconds arming phase
by reaching your hand into the car through an open window.
6. Check emergency-current siren when the DWA has been activated:
a) by disconnecting the battery
b) by disconnecting plug C (DWA wiring harness) from plug SC
(emergency-current siren wiring harness)
Note:
The alarm can be stopped by reconnecting the battery or by
reconnecting plugs C and SC from the DWA wiring harness to
the emergency-current siren wiring harness
7. Test the tilt sensor (optional). Raise the car at the side after arming
the DWA
8. Disarm the alarm system using the remote control key.
The hazard lights will flash once and the emergency-current siren
emits a signal
Possible cause
1. Remote control
2. Terminal 30 positive
connection to alarm unit
3. Earth connection to alarm
unit
1. A door is not closed
2. Boot open
3. Bonnet open
4. Check programming
(are all the contacts
connected for negative?)
Closed-circuit current
too high
LED defective
Remedy
1. Replace battery in remote control
2. Measure the voltage at DWA wiring harness, branch A15
3. Check earth at DWA wiring harness, branch A6,
to the body earth using an ohmmeter.
The value should be 0 Ohm
Check appropriate cable connections and door lock
striker switches
Repeat the programming procedure
Measure the closed-circuit current:
DWA V control unit
Tilt alarm sensor
Check all connections and supply cables to the LED.
Replace LED if necessary
Signal
The doors and boot are locked simultaneously
All the circuits (door contacts, boot or bonnet contact switches)
are correctly closed
One or more circuits (door contacts, boot or bonnet contact switches)
are open or not correctly connected
The arming phase is complete, the DWA is activated
The DWA LED in the centre console is considerably brighter.
The emergency-current siren also emits a signal
Alternating acoustic signal since the siren is equipped with a battery
(alarm is triggered if the car's electrical system fails)
Alarm is triggered
The doors and boot are unlocked simultaneously.
The LED goes out. The DWA is deactivated.
